Spears and grenades are very powerful weapons but they are also more inconvenient to use than ones belonging to primary skills category. Those cons make them best used to complement a primary weapon they synergize with, to be used in large scale actions to benefit the whole team or in particular situations where their use would change the result of the battle. Throwing weapons have not been designed to replace primary weapons and it's an important thing to remember.
