to be honest, for snipers this still remains somewhat viable. However, the game was designed in a way, and our pvp tests proved it, that flexibility is more important than specialization. Especially the post-24 skill point gain will make sure that there is high interest in keeping and developing one main character in order to make use of all secondary skills and the strategies that come with it.
Let's say your team is halfway into a fight, has lost the first attack and is now down on points. On top of that, most of your more tankier, close range chars died adn the enemy team, knowing they will win by points, can camp inside a building. In that situation you can't simply spawn in another char from wm and meet up in 10seconds but you will also have a hard time surviving a close range fight with 1 10 1 1 10 10 10 char.
On 2238 it was easy enough to just make a dedicated chars for each town and leave them in a base next to it and switch chars as needed, but here, you have to commit to a longer trip each time you enter the core and you don't know what will happen so you have to be prepared for anything.
Apart from that, the formulas usedmake it so that minmaxing your stats will actually make your character lose overall value due to diminishing returns on HP and crit resist for example. Minmaxed chars are also easier to counter, and I think that actively coming up with counter strategies is the main thing that separates aop from other servers, pvp wise.
