Weapon tables.
« on: March 25, 2016, 06:35:54 AM »

Yo guys, how about changing weapon tables on pages like this from what we see now to that.
Spoiler for Hiden:

There are several reasons to change the design:
1)It's more understandable: each time i look at current tables it takes me 30 sec to understad defaq is RLD or RNG. Also it is shown what type of dmg is used(single/burst... etc), previously I didn't know for SMGs if it was singlefire dmg or burst one.
2)The order is more simmilar what is shown on page. DMG->ap cost->range. I like it more :)
3) I've made a small app to scrape the info of all weapons from current page and return markup code of the table for easy copy to the wiki. That would make it much easier to change items and create new tables for future  weapon tiers.
App can be found here. I would be glad if someone will try it. Maybe it still has some mistakes inside >_>

Too much shitty code to share it. If program will be used/needed, i'll make code more readable and post it.

What you actually need to do if you want to do it properly is to list each firemode separately with all its parameters

The parameters for single shot are
Damage, range, ap cost, speed, accuracy, dmgtype, skill, aimed

For burst it's
Damage, range, ap cost, speed, accuracy, dmgtype, skill, burstcount, 1hex, spread

On top of that theres also ChargeTime but it's not used that often. Skill and dmg type could be left out to shorten the table. There are up to 3 firemodes so that would have to be accounted for, too

Then there are the normal, non firemode specific params
Tier, Weight, ST req, magsize, caliber

I guess walk only and deploy could be put into the trait section of a weapon

edit: I'll make the weapon data available before the release. A List with all weapon names, descriptions, pictures and the non-firemode specific params will be made available in a few days or so

Well most of that other information can be added on the weapons own page and not the table. Adding that to a table will make it seem cramped up.

Also nice table, dunno who made the previous one. Maybe make it sort able and add picture?

From what I've understood those tables were made to give brief info about each weapon.
Damage, range, ap cost, speed, accuracy, dmgtype, skill, burstcount, 1hex, spread
I think it already looks  clunky. And aditional info would just go off the screen.

What about instead use information that could be most important to compare using sortable tables.  For example: range, damage, dmg for 100 ap(using ap cost), dmg over 3second(using aimtime), mb. spread for full auto/burst weapons, smth else?

About modes. I've found 3 for guns - single, burst, full auto. 3 for melee- thurst, swing, punch. 1 for throwing.

There is no clear distinction between firemodes. When I make a firemode, I dont select it from single, burst or full auto, I just piece together all the paramaters I listec and then use a thing to make it say whatever we want on the textbox.

There is little point in only showing some of the values cause then it's meaningless for comparison. What people would want to use these tables for is to do their own calculations. If you leave out the burstcount, the AP cost will be meaningless. If you leave out spread and 1hex, you have no idea how man bullet will actually hit.

The reason I listed all these params is to have a completely list so we can think about how to display all of it in the best way.

Its for editing wiki.
Input is one of the pages pages(like energy weapons), output is wiki syntax to make table showed above.

Pretty good, is it possible to add images? Or do I have to do it manually?

BTW is there anyway to change the wiki? I mean, when you compare it to Reloaded or FOnline 2 you can tell its different...like its much more smaller and compressed, while the font seems huge and not enough space
