Mayyyyyybe, but most likely that space is reserved for Platoon emblems.
If there are platoon icons (eww), it should be possible to hide them.
I get that majority uses voice nowdays, I get that you have your lovely teamspeaks or mumbles, and thus it's not a must have thing, but it would be better to have it than not (speaking of chat boxes).
I have to disagree. Same story as with HP overhead.
As far as I understood the initial reason for no HP indicator next to HP because "too much text on the screen". Side effect is that you can't and don't have to overview everyone's state. You need to have voice comms to be efficient. Thus teamwork and communication instead of number/icon monitoring.
I personally would not like to see HP overhead, but if it was introduced, I would have to use it, because it's a huge simplification and overall advantage.
And it's an ass to click every single team mate to see if they're bleeding or anything else
You don't need to mouse over until you see them getting hit. After they got hit, there are many different types of information you might want to know about them: HP / cripples / bleeding / rest of effects (suppressed etc). Too much to be visible for every (friendly?) player in your view.
What if I integrate VOIP in game.............................
In game voice comm (e.g. project reality alike mumble integration with proximity chat) instead of status icons would be much better to develop the communication based gameplay avoiding the need to eye monitor.
UPD: would require much more improved version than PR alike though. Just mumble won't work: information shared through it is too explicit.
