So I was in the southern part of the core and I found a lot of spears on the ground is this normal or not?

It's normal, you can find crap load of spears everywhere in core. They come from Mobs (npcs) fighting each other and majority of them use spears.

IMO, there should be an NPC that just picks up items from ground to reduce all that clutter. (I've seen one in 2238 PvP events where an NPC is just picking up all the loot piles)

I like to wander around sciencing all the spears.

A new char could go to the core and lvl up a few times just doing that I'm sure.

An npc "cleaner" would be pretty cool, all these spears are rather unsightly.

Not to my knowledge, they usually just run from building to building searching desks and lockers.
