>Play vintage DnD games

Well, it's good if you like old games by bioware and you've played BG, BG2 and Icewind Dale 1 before and enjoyed them. Otherwise you can just play something more up-to-date like NWN1-2 and dragon age. You'll get the same idea but won't be repelled by archaic graphics, interface and so on.

All vintage DnD games have lots in common, but I'd underline some of the most important features:
- brilliant hand-painted 2D backgrounds and spell SFX
- mostly great dialogue everywhere, even more important if you're a fan of DnD universes and lore
- NPC followers interaction and romance options are 10/10. You won't find anything like BG2 in modern products. On the other hand, you cannot be gay or fuck horses, which might be a drawback for some people here.

Dragon Age 11/10 "Can fuck horses" IGN.

You've forgotten to mention that DnD games have high replay value, practically all old games do. I love BG2.

Yeah icewind dale and icewind dale 2 are nice games but they use the older dnd systems, which I find it really hard to go back to after neverwinter nights and DDO.

Still classics, and you can replay the game with the same party after you complete it with the heart of winter difficulty pack, just export your characters when you finish it.

Actually IWD2 uses the DnD 3.0 system, which is allmost like NWN's 3.5e. The differnce is that infinity engine is great for DnD, while aurora engine sucks ass

Still classics, and you can replay the game with the same party after you complete it with the heart of winter difficulty pack, just export your characters when you finish it.

Im playing on hard with tactics4IWD2 mod

dragon age? fucking horses? I NOPE'd hard at that being gay thing but I dont recall anything you would usually need a bethesda-game mod for.

Temple of elemental evil is also good, and has some cool mods, if you have never played it.

And planescape torment is another classic too.

That sounds cool dillinger where can I get a mod like that for myself? :)

Superb game for dosbox is "I have no mouth and I must scream".
Don't know if it will be any good while on mobile devices, since  half of the game's charm is in the voices of proto and antagonists and immersive story.

Haha darksun, man that's an oldie :D

You could make weird insect characters and half giants to lead your party through the desert. That is a game that needs to be remade, it was awesome.

Another great classic in the same grain; Arcanum.

It's a bit more steampunk, but it is a classy and timeless game really, another I would definitely recommend.

It's retro, but you don't need dosbox or anything, not sure exactly when it was made without googling it TBH.

Arcanum is god-like, the "tech vs magic" thing is so good, besides quests there are REALLY damn interesting. I need to replay that.

Again developers were in hury or was pushed.Arcanum world is half empty

Agreed, but the half that was full of real content (not just combat) was fantastic, and Tarant is huge from memory.

I would assume there are some content mods out, but I don't know for sure.

(off topic) Arcanum was nice but indeed it got a bit empty and fast at some point.

For some reason all the obvious old fantasy RPGs feel the same to me and I find them pretty boring. Fallout was different :)

If I had to list my fav. games of all time the only other RPGs in there would probably be Betrayal at Krondor and Earthbound.
