I think sneak is prolly the best solo class, I still remember Ramon playing terror movie baddie with around five family dudes in our gate.

Eventually we killed the invisible beast.

This is what some regular lawyers veterans do.
Assist them is assignements & in scavenging.

But, when veterans aren't there, or are already doing something else (dungeon/ZC/etc...), the low lever are in more danger than in the beginning of the server, even when they scavenge close to their gate.

I think most veterans would not encourage the killing of bluesuits.

Faggotry decline
In the old days I used to get gunned down by swarms of v-tec while being a lonely low-level bluesuits. No reason to set a proper presence in the Core if nobody guns down your people.

General Discussions / Should AoP do a wipe?
« on: January 09, 2015, 09:24:41 AM »
With the server down and player numbers low, I thought - Why not do a wipe and start again from zero? Wipes have been show to attract people, and we really need people.

My idea is that we could eiter have a hard wipe (WIPE ALL) or a soft wipe that just gets rid of equipment (because levelling is slow and it would lead to assignment grinding) so people have to go more into the Core in order to get gear and relics.

Here's how I see it:

Advantages of wipe:
- More reasons to go into the Core to scavenge.
- Gives a jumping point to noobs who want to enter in material equality with vets
- Allows devs to put in some features they could't without wiping.

Disadvantages:
- Some people dislike having to collect and craft all the stuff over again.
- (hard wipe) having to go in assigs to get XP again is a pain in the butt.
- (soft wipe) still keeps things unequal betwee nobs and vets, but their levels rather than gear are unequal.

I hope they will never put closed faction ingame. It would break one of the server core features, IMO. The whole point is the loners/casuals/noobs joining the veterans and become veterans themselves.

I agree, people dislike it because it takes them out of their comfort zone. Factions become the same-old same-old circle jerk of people who already know each other since 2238 or something.

No, in AoP you have to make do with what you have and turn those dumb n00bs into real men. That's how it should work. If they are too dumb or trollish, isolate them and hope they go to your rival faction so you can shoot them in the face later.

For people who like exclusive factions, I think that we just need more platoon-directed mechanics to help. There's also the fact we're gonna see more factions in the future, final plan is 8.

Then again, the quality of noobs has gone down lately. When I was a AoP noob, I was ZCing before I hit level 5, I wanted to do it so bad I got ahead of myself and we had to hunt down some shit before I could do it. It does piss me off a bit to see those level 12 n00bs just going on assigs and core runs rather than doing ZCs or at least heading off with guerilla deathsquad parties.

About faction destruction: Due to the way factions are positioned, won't it end with each faction destroying a neutral faction before reaching their deadly enemy? So Family/Lawyers will always have to destroy Brahmin Boys/V-Tech first and vice-versa.

I do like the idea of faction destruction through. Makes me think that something like that would be a worthy PvP event by itself - "Siege of Family Hotel by Vault-Technologists!" Imagine a whole weekend with Vtecs making a harsh siege of Family Hotel with a army of players and cannonfodder while Family members ponder between trying to raid the siegers or awaiting for other factions to attempt a rescue. Imagine a faction being overwhelmed and killed because they ran outta ammo after days and days of dire siege.

Also, is the 4 faction system final or is there a plan for extra factions? 6 or 8 would be very interesting...

A wakizashi was used for armor penetration wasn't it? And only about a foot long in length.

How about a 2x4 with a nail in it, now that is fallout, or a gun that jams 50% of time.

Lets not get anal, since we can craft Hi-Tech BG sniper rifles. :P

I'm not anal, I'm just saying that Swords go against the Fallout mood and style, like a a nuclear-reactor would in a steampunk setting.

That's mainly Komrade. The rest are either just lazy, or use the "don't have microphone" excuse, even through most people in TS just shut up and hear instructions.

I do wish we had a more private corner for Family OGs to talk (trusted people only), we could create our own codes for faster voice and text communication, exchange strategies and hints, all without prying eyes. Maybe a forum group here?

It's not a bad idea, I once designed A similar thing for my old fallout tactics mod. It's tech was based on force field emitter tech redesigned by SF scientists to emit a blade shaped field.

Don't apologise for there rudeness harpy.

Fallout used to have a unofficial "No-Swords" rule in the Black Isle times. And I agree fully with it - less swords, more axes, hammers, clubs, spears, etc. Even the Wakizashi is more of a long stabbing knife than sword.

So I really think that Laser Hacksaw >>> Energy Blade.

What he means is that peace blinds you to the fact you will soon be rekt in five minutes by your "allies" and their grubby hands.

Also, if you don't fight your faction's enemies in the Core, you will go blind and be considered useless except as a blind berserker. You will then be lucky if your team-mates don't grind you into paste to feed themselves and take all your stuff and womenfolk.

So go fight in the Core, NOW!

Events & Politics / Re: Is there any point playing Family now?
« on: October 28, 2014, 03:07:29 AM »
Yeah Family has always been the most rentless.
Thing is, Family is all about being a faction of loners. We're loners who got together to stick to everyone who ins't a loner - Lawyers are all about the platoon, BBs are very clannish and organized (today, they used to be chaotic as fuck from what Esper told me), V-Tecs were always a swarm of noobs, scrubs and crazies with a small core composed by a elite platoon or two (Lidae's Lightbringers, Drones, etc).

Family is also the best organized at the grassroots level but we suck at getting something big co-ordinated, which is why we always had problems getting people for ZC but the Core always has a Family deathsquad patrolling the Mojave (and wishing for a nuclear winter).

Also Family has always been at the fore-front of tactical innovations - Jihads are a Family creation (low-cost guerilla deathsquads, used to kill pretty much anything barring ZC squads, only stopped when everyone started walking well-armed into the core), mass-traps started with Family, the most dastardly turtling is done by The Family, only tactic I never saw us use is grenade spamming, V-Tec used to win ZCs through MILKOR spamming and sniping the survivors.

Changelogs / Re: 24.10.2014 Changelog
« on: October 28, 2014, 02:40:07 AM »
what should death squads usually be armed with?

In the old times I used my second-best equipment, today I just use my best equipment that I can substitute for. But then again in the old times I burned through lots of equipment due to all the ZC I used to do. Just don't use TL3 stuff like Power Armor, Gatling Laser and Pancor and you will be fine. I also don't use any armor beyond CAmkI and Metal Armor MkI, they're too expensive and best used in ZC and assigs. Bringing Faction Armor MKII or CAmkIII to a deathsquad is foolishness. Deathsquads aren't supposed to be fancy and expensive, a truth since the days where robes, AKs and a crowd shouting allahu akbar could kill anything short of a ZC squad.

My experience is that the best weaponry for deathsquadding are:
1. Pistols (Deagle .50 AE, S&W, Magneto-Laser for kockdowns, Plasma Pistol Ext., Pulse Pistol)
2. Shotguns (Their main role is to provide knockdowns and knockouts, taking enemies out of the fight and stopping enemies from fleeing. The damage is ok but shotgunners are midrange support. I usually stick to the Combat Shotgun, but double remmys with flechette can be lethal. CAWS works too I think. Jackahmmer through, is too precious to use anywhere but in assigs and ZC.)
3. Long-range, high-powered Assault Rifles (FN-FAL is perfect for this - strong, double-tap, fast shooting, long range, etc. AK-74 is good too)
4. SG Sniper Rifles (the faster shooting the better. Best use is leg-cripping, if the enemy gets leg-crippled its pretty GG)
5. Rad SMG (because limb shredder)
6. Laser Rifle - High laser damage, fires at good rate, precise, big range. Just sucks against metal. Way better than plasma rifle.
7. Needler and wakizashi for sneakers.

Also, I think Big Guns aren't good for deathsquadding because
a) time and AP taken deploying means less time and AP to start shooting
b) Big Guns as a rule are slow to attack, which sucks when you are in a running gunbattle
c) Big Guns can't aim, and the ones that can (Sniper BGs) hit upon the previous problems
d) Reloading is slow as hell
e) Can't run with minigun
f) flamer is too short-ranged.
g) Ammo expenses are bad. I usually take 500 bullets for my machinegun in BG deathsquading, that goes for around 300 caps and frankly that's half the reward for a high-level assig (its the same reason I don't take BGs to assigs anymore except flamers).

(having a BG dude can be very good if you set up a ambush team, tho. BG shines in ZC, but not as much in a running gunbattle that requires fast, constant movement)

Also, I never used grenades in deathsquadding, I can't see them (and MILKORs as well) being very useful unless you're expecting to fight static groups, lots of groups.

Excelent points, BG Sexpert.
I would add that the currently-criticized Family Vendetta Deathsquads actually do a favour to our own bluesuits, in the following ways:

1. We patrol the Core and eliminate or bait any threats to our bluesuit friends.
2. Our attacks against our enemies attract their own deathsquads to fight our deathsquad.
3. Other factions' bluesuits also benefit by having rivals for loot and ganking attracted to our deathsquad.

So enlist today in your own factional deathsquad! Clean the Core in the name of [insert faction cause here]!

Maybe bounty could give more or less XP depending on level? Baging a level 3 bluesuit should not give the same XP as killing a level 30 veteran.

One little advantage of Sewer Rats is that because they don't have a base, they revive on top of a faction gate in WM instead.

Me, I do think we could use a little more support to Sewer Rats, but that would be more appropriate for when the neutral safe haven shows up (IF).

Events & Politics / Re: Is there any point playing Family now?
« on: October 24, 2014, 04:50:39 AM »
I think this question needs to be addressed. What is the point of staying in The Family.

1. They can't do any zone control effectively as whenever ZC message pops up that Family is taking a zone the nearest faction immediately goes there as they know The Family has no chance.

2. Game bugs seem to be priority for every other faction except Family. Family entrance merchant has been stuck since yesterday while merchants for other factions are being fixed. Even suggestions like selling all books with one click are considered for other faction but not Family.

3. Family gate is camped most of the time as PK's from other factions go there to have fun shooting n00bs as they know that Family won't send punishing force to retaliate. Because of that scavenging also takes a hit.

Please give a little love to The Family as they are great bunch of lads. If not for this reason do it for the sake of some balance at least.
Your kidding me right? I have yet to be killed by someone outside the Family, from my experience with them, there just a bunch of shoot on sight, gate camping riff raffs who don't speak any English.

I was hunting near vtec gate in the last 30 mins and you know what happened?  Me and my partner let 4 people go because they weren't worth shooting. Family has been getting better about raping random blues from my observation.  On top of that I rarely ever see other languages in the faction chat, it's pretty much all coherent for an English speaker.  As others have also said we give out items and equip our newbs and broke players more than any other faction.  You just happen to be on the wrong end of a Kalashnikov most of the time, sorry.

Wait, what?!
What is this decline?
The enemy is to be shot at all costs, bluesuit or not! No quarter! "Bluesuit" is just code-word for "disguised enemy pro-player"! Think of the frag rankings, man!
Where is Sabbarab? He would't have let this happen!
Looks like I'm going to have to get back to improve discipline. Just as well. I want a piece of that l33t Power Armor and bounties.
