Title: Wasteland\Post-Apocalyptic themed books
Post by: Myakot on September 27, 2014, 12:43:58 AM
I need some help with "Wasteland\Post-Apocalyptic themed books".
First of all because I work part-time for a bookshop which deals with non-Rus literature only, and we always replenish our stock with something new ;).
And just because I'm running low on reading material ><. Just finished (for the 3rd time) reading this "top 1 series in the galaxy" (c) Me

And now again I'm out of things to read. Thought that I've never encountered something Wasteland-themed, brief Internet-surf gave second to none results, so I'm asking for your help! kthxbye.

I thoroughly enjoyed those series. They were low on budget, so they figured they'd show Geralt fighting the scariest monster of them -  Man.
Just as I enjoyed Game Of Thrones, even though the TV series are full of shit, and are not even remotely as good as books :)

The Postman is a half decent read, I'd also recommend that. The movie is almost an entirely different story and I'd probably hate it if it wasn't for Will Patton.

Stephen King's Dark Tower series is quite cool, though it tends toward the supernatural elements as King often does.

John Marsden's Tomorrow series of books was also an old favorite of mine, though I haven't read it in over a decade, so I can't attest to it's quality, but the themes were fun enough (not quite fallout, but close-ish).

The Road made a better movie then book in my opinion, but that's not to say the book isn't good.

Richard Matheson's I Am Legend is a classic in this genre too, and a great read.

I'm sure i'll think of more later.

heh, now this happens to be my fav. flavour of books.

from the top of my head:

Philip k. Dick - Dr. Bloodmoney, or How We Got Along After the Bomb
Robert Merle - Malevil
Gudrun Pausewang - Die letzten Kinder von Schewenborn (The Last Children of Schewenborn)
Walter M. Miller - A Canticle for Leibowitz
Philip k. Dick & Roger Zelazny - Deus Irae

While all 5 are very good reads, I think nr. 1 and nr. 5 pretty much sum up the fallout universe.
