That about hits the nail on the head (No pun intended). Barring fancy futuristic anti-kinetic armor, hitting someone with something is always going to be effective if you're in range.  Like PursuiteGA touched on, Kevlar will not stop arrows or knives that are made well. The ballistic plate might, but not the soft body armor. A weapon is a weapon is a weapon when you have the drop on someone. In straight up combat archaic weapons should not be a viable option, but when you find someone alone in a bathroom all bets are off.

Kevlar actually sucks. It's not the best protection material for a long time already. If you want to be defended from stabs, don't use kevlar.

An average individual will generate an impact with a knife in the region of 18-20 joules when stabbing someone with a full force, direct blow (as opposed to a slashing type attack).

TurtleSkin MFA as an example of class 3 stab armor protection plate. It's ceramic / combined armor which defends from needle penetration (which has better penetration than an knife)

but if we pursue strict technical terms of protection all modern armors* give virtualy no or very low levels of protection vs impact from say hammer (there will be some spread of force but ultimatly body armored victim of blunt force assault will be badly broken without penetration)
so if we follow that logic of all weps Supersledge must have DR trait because BLUT FORCE DMG seem to be te most indiferent toward armoring
*the only exeption must be the heavily padded covered with hard plastic shell RIOT SUITS and what they provide goes more into te direction of "better than nothing"

most body armors are designed for specific purpose ( balistic protection) and are quite inadequate vs melee atacks

i agree. right now i am thinking the supersledge and powerfist need to do explosive damage and bleed damage. crushing attacks would require medical attention no doubt..

 i think powerfist and super sledge are well balanced atm , super sledge is very tactical weapon for now and mpf can deal alot of damage plus it can knockbout multiply targets or atleast knockout the others while one is flyin ... both great weapons
