About "average (poorly trained)" shooters, didn't find the exact info on the page. Although anyway, I'd recommend watching / practicing: Kelly McCann's Inside the Crucible Volume 4: Close-Quarters Shooting and Combative Pistol Skills also known as Combative Pistol - Jim Grover's Guide to Extreme Close Quarters Shooting (e.g.
vk.com requires registration). It took less than 5 hours to learn to defend the pistols in close range and hits 75% of rounds with it for people with experience in martial arts.
It's certainly not 95% chance to hit, but IRL you can shoot much faster with a pistol and moving targets are not problem in close range for it.
If you want to find something too good and unrealistic, it'd mention reloading speed though.
