Title: AoP Client v1.0 & server launch info

Hello everyone!

Here is the link to client 1.0 (http://fonline-aop.net/site/index.php?p=download). The online server will be opened in approximately 2 hours.

The client contains a default cache file, and so you should be able to reach the main menu screen already. Ask around in the Technical Center (http://fonline-aop.net/forum/index.php?board=13.0) if you encounter issues to run the client, and we'll do our best to help you. Don't forget to provide screenshots and explain your issue, and of course paste the content of your FOnline.log.

We'll update this thread when the server is ready to go.
EDIT: server is online!

When i start the game, it takes a lot of time until the main menu appears... this is not normal (i think)

i found out about this game a week ago and i'm so happy right now, i can see the servers crashing due to the huge ammount of people trying to join at the same time, well it's not THAT big, but i'm pretty sure there would be some problems as the launch of every other Fallout Online game

I'm literally bedridden because of Wisdom Teeth extraction, and I've been waiting with anticipation for this game since I can confidently say that I'm just gonna spend ours on end scouring the wasteland with fellow wastelanders  :) can't wait!

actually, i meant that when the servers go online they'll probably crash, ive sene quite a lot of new people like me finding out about this on the end of august, but i know that the servers are still not online :p

If you still got a black screen when the game is up, just press "Enter" the screen should reload and fix automaticly, be sure MASTER.DAT & CRITTER.DAT are in the folder (or Fallout.dat, if you don't already own Fallout 2).

I can't scroll my screen down once I've scrolled it "up". Anyway got my first gecko kill, after I was killed by a radscorpion :D

There are lags at the moment, we're aware of it, but we have to see how it goes in order to take any decision. It was to be expected, please be patient or return give it a try later.

Yeah.. Whats with these lags? Im spiking 15000~ ping. 15k. I tried both satelite internet and dielup internet. Both have this issue. Is it a server lag issue that will be fixed or should i just deal with it ?

Whaaaaaaat? Lags already? Man that's pretty disappointing. I remember in 2238 when I first started there was severe lag, and it made me not even want to play. Hopefully this isn't because its hosted on a cheap-o server... If that's the case, I'd be more than willing to donate for a better server per month.

I noticed that some perks does not have a negative effect.
Gifted for example let you tag skills if you have done it before slelecting it, bruiser (the one that does +3 strengh -2 agility) does not remove agility skill points.

Thats ok, Bruiser dont remove Agi. Its reduce the gain of youre Aktion Points. Gifted is fine, you cant create a char with tag skills.

Please guys tell me, is it only me? I can't scroll down the screen with the mouse. I'm playing in fullscreen mod becuz I've got widescreend and in windowed I can't the see the interface, nor moving the window. I can only keep the screen while going down on the map if I continously use the Home button.

i was lucky enough to play with little to no lag and this game is fun so far, i love how it randomly generates your inventory at each new character

Gifted for example let you tag skills if you have done it before slelecting it, bruiser (the one that does +3 strengh -2 agility) does not remove agility skill points.
did you actually try to finish the character with gifted trait?i think it doesnt work....pops out invalid special data for me with taken gifted trait...

did you actually try to finish the character with gifted trait?i think it doesnt work....pops out invalid special data for me with taken gifted trait...
you must have at least 2 in every SPECIAL to be able to create char with Grifted trait

Sounds like a classic "having pressed F8 at some point" problem. Try pressing F8 again. Dunno about that business you're having with interface not showing in windowed though.


As said by others before, lags like hell, unplayable for me right now sadly. I give it another shot tomorrow, so far it looks as if it will be able to provide some good fun. :)

Remove DDL and keep only torrent? I took the direct too, but I'll gladly seed it a while if that helps.

Nope, when I hit F8 it locks all the directions. But I can move my cam to the right, left and up directions but not down. But no other trouble. Can it be becuz I used the .dat files from a ressurection modded version of fo2?

Ok I didnt read carefully enough what you wrote, sry. No idea what could be the problem, but yeah in general I guess it's best to use vanilla .dats and not modded ones.

Impossible to play with this lag. Disappointing, but I guess I'll try again tomorrow. Maybe by then it will even out.

Also, the update checker couldn't connect apparently? Anyway, I just wanna see is there a way around this issue.

Yup, there appears to be a problem with the updater.exe (for me). It simply doesn't connect to the server (tested at the exact time this message will be posted).
Well, you won't see me in-game for a good amount of time anyway, still sad that there're some problems ^^.

Well I am about 5 minutes from completing the client download, will the server be up at that stage? I don't want to break anything by clicking too early >.<

I had the exact same bug, try check if your client folder is in read-only, if it is, that may be the thing causing bug. Also did you use 7-zip to unzip your client?

I got in fine :D

Made up a character (well two, the first was just an experiment, but failed so I made another).

But there was a global Update in 3 minutes message, so I got somewhere relatively safe and logged.

What is the update? Just small maintenance or a big one?

I had the exact same bug, try check if your client folder is in read-only, if it is, that may be the thing causing bug. Also did you use 7-zip to unzip your client?

It is in the ouroboros of read-only, and I used WinRAR. God I cannot get it out of the read only state.

150 players (no big lags) 180 (some lags) (200+) real big lags (nearly unplayable).

Maybe the nickname is already taken? Try "jfuajiowg" or some other uncommon nick.
Also, read the info/warnings after creating your character if such exist.

I have the same problem. I also am getting an incorrect username or password. With me it started after I used FOConfig.exe to change from windowed to fullscreen.

So far this is amazing as much as hardcore. And I'd love to see it that way in the future.
The differences from other servers gives this one the great potential.
I've been deep in trying to figure out things for two days forgetting about eating.

People will complain about harshness all the time, I hope you know and expect it.
But I'd love to see gameplay improvements not simplification.

Partially to make people complain less, we need some basic beginners guides and it's work for the community.
