Title: Ashes of Phoenix Release date
Post by: Shangalar on August 28, 2014, 12:06:28 PM
Hello everyone!

Development on Ashes of Phoenix has been really intense during this summer, and thanks to your support and feedback, we've been able to bring multiple improvements to the game. Now, it is time for the launch.

Friday the 5th of September, the public server will be officially open for everyone. That means you'll be free to download the game client and jump into Arizona with all of us and start the adventure!

In a couple of days, game rules will be posted on our forums and the installation procedure page (http://fonline-aop.net/site/index.php?p=download) will be updated. We'll post an announcement about it before launch day so you can perform the game installation already if you wish. The exact hour of the launch and some other details will be given at the same time.

This version 1.0 is just the beginning of the Ashes of Phoenix journey though. We have plans for the future weeks and months, and you can expect the game to evolve regularly. We'll talk about this in more detail in a few weeks. You can also expect us to ask your opinions about features of the game, both existing ones and new ones that we plan to introduce. Thanks to those discussions, we hope to develop a better game that corresponds to your desires, and also give you a clearer picture of our vision for Ashes of Phoenix in the future. This game is about combat, exploration, survival and politics, and all those aspects have not been equally developed yet. There is much more to come!

On top of that, in order to allow everyone to take a look at raw footage straight from the battlefield, we will host a livestream on twitch.tv on August 30th, 8-10pm CET, showing live zone control in action.

We hope you'll have much fun playing AoP and we want to thank you for your support which is extremely helpful, boosting our spirit and giving us the energy we need to continue on. We hope you're as excited as we are to start plundering Phoenix with all our friends!

See you soon in Arizona!

So do you want me to spread the word and tell as many people as I can? or do you think you are already going to have 100-200+ players?

Also, will we be able to watch the vid from aug 30th later on?  I don't know if I will be able to watch it live.

yes, it should remain as a normal video and yes, you should tell everyone

Out of curiosity are devs going to play? XD or are you going to do normal dev/admin stuff.

we have developed the game in order to play it. You wouldnt bake a cake for yourself and then not eat it, record a song and not listen to it or make a map and not try it out.

Waw, so many new members of the forum today. It's good to see you all! I hope AoP will bring you an interesting and refreshing experience.

I see many people have really original nicknames, it seems some of you might be interested in roleplaying too. I hope the world setting will give you opportunities to do it. As a player, I can say that's something I really like to do, and I'll make sure we also introduce mechanics that will encourage such gameplay.

Welcome everyone!

I don't know about the pvp aspect but I'll give it a go.  Ever since the unfortunate demise of black isles stuidos bethesda has been more miss than hit on fallout -.-

Yes you need fallout 2 for the mater.dat and critter.dat files.
Am not very familiar with the FOnline engine itself, will both of those files from the other clients (of the other servers) suffice? As far as I know, those files are not usually changed, but still, better to know this in advance ^^.

I tell people who are interested, For example, Everyone in Fallout reloaded is talking about AoP, I've told a few there all about it, but alot already knew. (There are alot of new players, Saying they are only playing Fallout reloaded to learn the basic game mechanics, or freshen up their skills for the AoP release, Alot of older players say they will atleast try it, and some even say they plan to become a player for sure)

I also mention it to small gaming communities, Like the Byond community. If you get the word out in a small community, And one person likes it, there is a good chance he can talk a friend into trying it out... So yeah... thats where i've been spreading the word, Small gaming communities

How great is it that someone showed me this project 2 days before it's intended release date :)

Amazing looking effort guys, looks like i'll have a new addiction for a while :D

The no turn based is harsh for me, but I will just have to nut up and get used to it because from the videos wiki info and forum buzz, this looks like a real unique homage to the fallout franchise, and with the obvious effort that has gone in to designing a whole new map and surrounding lore, I know I personally will put the effort in to explore every corner of this new wasteland out of sheer respect.

Thanks so much for working to keep projects like this a reality, the fact you aren't being directly paid for such efforts puts you in line for sainthood in my books.

Actually, no. Please don't throw information when you don't have any.

We're bit late on the schedule, but the server should be online around 8pm gmt+2.

We're still busy with some remaining details on the client though, we'll provide the link as soon as we can.

The best thing will be to download the new one.
We will rebuild the aop.zip file with the last improvement, that mean at least about 425Mo to download in order to update.
The full Client will be around 450Mo. :)

Gah! I'm so antsy! My main concern is once the client is launched, how many people will quit due to harshness. That was a big problem on the other servers. Hopefully this one will be a bit more forgiving.

On a different perspective though, people quitting is just a way to slowly weed out the whiners and wimps who cant take a real challenge. The server could be better off that way....

Well I'm probably thinking too far ahead. I'm just trying pass some time here hehehe. About an hour!!
