Is Ashes of Phoenix still being played and developed or is it a dead project? because it doesn't seem to have alto of players as of right now

It is still being very actively developed, it's just that we're preparing a lot of big changes, some of which are impossible to patch into a running season. Aside from that, a lot of changes and additions are being made without changelogs, just because

Right now, there are still a dozen people playing every night for pvp. In any case, once we wipe and roll out the big updates, a lot of people will come back as a lot of the long standing gangs from other servers will come check it out, giving the server a decent playerbase to be able to promote it further.

At this point, there is no promotion done as the game is in a special kind of phase right now.

So I'm assuming, from what I've read that the wipe will be Autumn 2016?

Could be. Could happen 2017, tomorrow, could have happened yesterday! Devs don't even know when wipe is xD
