Not a base, a faction like lawyers, Brahmin boys, etc.

A LOT OF PEOPLE DONT WANT TO BE FORCED TO PLAY WITH NOOBS,ITS WHAT KILLED THE GAME!!!!

How can it happen?  Dunno 12 am atm and just thought of the idea

lore factions ok i think , only thing which could be more worked on is platoons within a faction which could act like a faction on other servers ... like no penalty in killing other platoon members etc. maybe platoon zc box with deliverys and so on ...

i always think about something like that , because stalker has a point and many player from other servers always brought this point up to me when i talked about ashie with them .

Those server also only have ~2 clans competing with each other and the rest of the players are stuck in an endless grind treadmill.
In aop everyone can see and participate in endgame pvp.

+1 Agreed, I concur. Also my opinion...

How would creating player factions be any different to having independent clans?

I guess it would just be more of a rolepaly thing.

In the end, we would of course like the current NPC factions to be player driven. We just dont have the scripts for that and it's not worth it at this point to concentrate all the effort on that.

How the hell will this "dumb down the server"?  please explain. Gangs being forced to play with shit randoms is one of the reasons why people quit. I know my gang quit do to being forced to play with Russian vtec back when they played.

Anyone can participate in endgame PvP, but not everyone will want to play with each other. I personally hate playing with people that don't want to connect to mumble/TS

As we discussed a bit on IRC in my delirium of no-sleep Monday.

A few misconceptions:
-Being in the same faction does not automatically make you friends..
-You are not forced to hold the hands of your factionmates.
-There isn't a repercussion for TKing (not greifing) beyond the in-game mechanics

We want to address the issues which stem from being in the same living space of people who are not necessarily part of your group.

Concerns:
-Looting
-Attracting unwanted attention ( for sneakers )
-Spys
-Rage TKing

At the beginning of the session, faction-mates could lose a ZC for you from points, that's been remedied.

I can alleviate some of the woes of dividing loot by making it a game mechanic but it would probably feel super awkward and the thrill of loot rushing would be gone. Features like such is purely a babysitting tool and it maybe really silly but it is looking like becoming a practical reality. 

As far as wanting to be prestigious and having your names in the spotlight, there is going to be some major emphasis additions for platoons.

What do you want to achieve as an independent faction? I think its best to shift those wishes towards Platoon features.

i appreciate you sticking to this, because I want the server the way it is. If stalkers friends left for this reason then they are a bunch of sallies.

So there're one thing left to legitimate the system: No reputation penalty for TK outside of the HQs.
This way you can shoot on sight anyone from your faction in the core... and it's up to you to take this decision or not.

It would create much more mess, by basically making anyone a target from anyone.
At least now, you know that people with your own color won't shoot you unless you messed with them.

TKing is not acceptable.
There are a lot of rivalries In lawyers and the above post  by Cirn0 is not helpful at keeping the Peace.

Well, next are statements, saying that one faction color doesn't mean one team.
Team is controllable, general players from your factions are not. In other games for being a bad "team-player" you will be kicked from the server. AOP doesn't provide "kicking" ability, so the only way is the hard way of FF.

Those are enough reasons for no in-faction-FF reputation penalty.
So it's up for everyone to shoot someone else or not, exactly as it's supposed to be.
Still in the same time you join faction, have access to faction chat / can communicate with different people / ask them to join them, etc, etc.

Even though i could understand why you asked for free-reputation TK, this is clearly a wrong idea. AoP community is not mature at all when it comes to TK trolls/spies only, and you will see a lot of dickheads camping gates to free kill people or other situations.

It is safer to try and find another way to deal with those people (trolls/spies)
