You start playing the game. You get your room for free. You're glad.
You put there lockers and start sorting it out, stashing the crafting resources, ammo, drugs, trying to organize it all.
Finally you understand it's very inconvenient: hard to craft, too low space, can't let anyone in or you have found friends and want to marry and live together for the rest of your days.
How much time you're going to spend getting 30k reputation? As for me, probably, it'd take months of zc. And if assignment-grinding is not intended, it's the only way.
And you'll have to spend 10/15k caps on top on it.
Is it really necessary or fun?

If i am not wrong, you can join platoon no matter your reputation now.
Which lead to the problem of the reputation being now useless.
You should be able to unlock new stuff each 10K reputation.
It could be platoon, better platooon, assignements, traders, ZC mechanics, etc...
Just some motivation to get more reputation/fame, rather than just for the sake of it.

Reputation should probably affect assignments only (to get higher-lvl'ed missions).
And fame should maybe affect shops..? It makes no sense that some low-no-name can buy a single plasma canon from the store

you can't buy a base with <30 rep as far as I know.
Because it's not about balance.

duno i got my 29k rep in lower them month for sure and i did like 2-3 assigments all other i got playing caping and killing so duno how you have low progress of building rep
