I just hit 150% throwing, and i've got bonuses to my spear like Finisher, Hit the Gaps, etc. Will this even apply when using the spear in melee? This is looking at the Serrated Spear.
-
I think throwing apply when you throw, melee apply when you melee.

Also dont forget about bleedover effect.

Throwing doesn't bleedover with anything.

He certainly has one primary tagged skill (like SG) which affects melee.

Sorry I could've been more clear. I have 250% H2H and so far I haven't seen bonuses on spears like the Serrated Spear, but now that I've started putting points in throwing, I'm starting to get weapon perks like Finisher and Hit the Gaps on the spears. There isn't a distinction if the perk is intended for melee or throw. Hope that was more understandable, and thanks for the responses.
Edit- I'll just have to mess around with the spears and see how they work I guess. Was just curious if someone had tried before me

Oh... good question. I think we need a developer here.

Spear's item perks are revealed through throwing. Just as machete's and wakizashi's through sneak.
-
Thanks Myakot, but that's not what I'm asking
-
Sorry, yes this bonus will apply.

I think it's kind of weird and unintuitive that spears and wakizashi wont unlock perks by melee skill (Even in original fallout spears use the melee weapon skill when trusted)
I have made a suggestion about that, but it didn't get much attention. http://fonline-aop.net/forum/index.php?topic=1431.0
I think its great that you can use wakizashi only having sneak skill, and thrust with spears without investing in melee, but why it dont work the other way around? after all, those weapons are also considered melee.
