Title: PvP help.
Post by: Nunn on September 16, 2014, 11:22:44 AM
I tend to play games like this mainly for the PvP content, though I'm finding myself failing over and over again when i try.
Any tips for fighting players?
My main issue seems to be AP management, even though i may do a strong amount of damage i always run out of AP before i can give the crucial hit and get obliterated in the counter barrage.

I mainly deal in small guns.

Have no experience in playing ranged here, but learned a lot from observing everyone else ;).
Main thing here is to learn how to efficiently use your movement and save time\ap by doing just that. Saw lots of people just running around aimlessly waiting for their AP regen while their opponent was just shooting them.
Try different drugs or just calculate which ones would be the most optimal for you, those are REALLY usefull. If what you say happens a lot (you run out, show everything you're capable of and that's not enough) something like blood moon would help you a lot.
Where are you aiming at? That also is pretty critical. If you are fighting pretty much anyone with not a giant minigun\sniper rifle in his hands, try to break his arms in order to knock out his weapon. He won't regen AP during animation pick-up, he will waste 50 AP for equipping that weapon back, and some of those AP in order to heal his broken arm, w\o which he won't be able to shoot. (Btw some1 from NNYT said that you can cripple the same limb 3 times). Why shoot any1 other than heavy guys? Critical Strength.
Sometimes it's just much better to shoot at groin\head (groin less AP cost, but less damage also), both do knockouts quite often.

Ive tried both the aimed shots and just letting rip but they don't seem to help as much as id like, i have a feeling my current character is a tad to fragile as i screwed up a lot at creation.... so might try a new one.

maybe post your build here. Use walls/objects for cover and dont start a fight you cant finish.

Old character:

5 ST, 7 PE, 5 EN, 6 CH, 6 IN, 7 AG, 5 LK
Finesse and Small Frame

It looks crappier every time i look at it :P
I forgot i took Finesse, no wonder i was doing so little damage.

New Build:

6 ST, 8 PE, 8 EN, 4 CH, 6 IN, 10 AG, 5 LK
Gifted and Fast Shot.

Suggestions on Weapon type?

Edit: and now im reading that AG kinda sucks....

You have to pick a weapon and THEN make a build out of it, haha ^^, not vice versa.

I would reduce AG and put into EN or LK. But yeah depends what kinda weapons you want to use as primary. If sniper you want more LK and IN for better crit chance. If not sniper you can reduce PE. I dont know exactly how CH works so maybe someone else can help with that

Building CH is worthless, unless you are sure of what you're doing. Building proper characters that would do wonders under the proper leadership will not come that soon ;).
p.s.
What I mean is: CH is probably the best STAT with the use of leadership, however no1 exactly knows how to use it's maximum, that's why I'm suggesting to forget about it for now.

There are couple of options/advices I could give you.

If you're going with high AP regeneration, you can use pistols and spam shots or use machineguns and burst. (In this cases INT> LK)
Or you can go with aimed shots with pistols (for example head or groin) shift + number to aim (this will drain more AP and make your effective range smaller) in case of aimed shots (LK>INT)

I talk about INT and LK because INT is related to general critical chances and LK is related to aimed critical chances. Gun skill is something that effects your range and number of successful shots in general. You put points into this at first. Until 150% you will be bad at shooting, 150-200, you'll be much better, above 200% your char properly knows how to shoot ;)

Generally, if you aren't making a build for critical shots its not healthy to just stay in one place and shoot. Run around, use cover, wait till your AP regenerates.

All in all, I presume you don't have experience from another Fonline servers, but in time you'll learn a trick or two. It takes practice. Also in this game its very healthy to have a team/partner instead of going alone.

Not shift+number, it was changed already ^^. (I.e. Shift+z = left leg, x =groin, c= right leg, w= head, like a figurine of a human on your keyboard and easy to remember ;) ).

Find someone using faction chat, explain your situation and ask for help! (By using /f) I don't know how it is at your HQ, but we're having no trouble grouping up.

We had some great times grouping up, yesterday we managed to purge the map of 3-4 groups of Pking lawyer groups and sent a family group running.
Generally though Vtec has a hard time getting a solid group together to go hunt which is why we have a lot of issue with gate/zone camping.

You have a shit ton of players Oo, are there seriously any problems?

Number of players doesn't mean that they are all either well equipped or interested in defending our interests :P Most seem to be either looting with crap gear or spamming assignments.

Character wise:
What about:
6 ST, 8 PE, 8 EN, 4 CH, 10 IN, 6 AG, 5 LK

Im more about charging in and blasting with mid range weaponry, would i be better off trying for Aimed shots and switching Int with LK or going for just direct hits?
I like having the higher PE mostly for sight range or when i decide to actually use something with range :P

Every faction has those, numbers mean how many % of those are like that ;).
8 PE for mid-ranged battles? Idk :/ What is your CH for? Do you have a squad with which you are planning to play? If not then it's useless ;).
And eh... 6+8+8+4+10+6+5= 47?

Spoooseee, we do sometimes get organized but half the time any threat has already disappeared with a ton of looted gear.
Gifted :D
I sometimes run with a squad so i figure not to dump all of it.

Why does no1 see those giant red letters "for experienced players only" ;). You realize that you are now forced to dump everything into 10 int and pick skilled as a trait? (While losing valuable fast shot)
Title: Re: PvP help.
Post by: Nunn on September 16, 2014, 09:45:04 PM
Lucky for me i haven't pressed the big blue tick yet :P
So Gifted is not good? will i be able to get to the required skill points without taking skilled as a trait?

I believe with 10 INT and Educated you will still lack SP to get your SG to 250%. I suggest you to find the answer in recent topics ^^ this was an everyday TOTD (theme of the day) since the server start.
Or just count it yourself!
Go to wiki and get wild ;). (It will be 6sp per % to get from 200 to 250%)

bah -_-

Oki what about

6,6,8,4,8,4,4
With Fast shot, not sure about second trait though.
Also what suggestion is their for secondary tag skills.

Sorry for the double post/bump, just want to finish this build soon so i can play again :P

Would Bruiser be a good choice? If AG isn't that important then it could be effectively used to gain 2 skill points in exchange for a bit of AP generation.
Similar thing with small frame, at the cost of being knocked down more i could get 1 skill point.

With Secondary skill points, should i take both First Aid and Doctor or would i be better tagging 1 so i can put skill points after 24 in the other?

Bruiser is one of the best traits as I see it now. I didn't check what char and role you gonna play, so think if it suits you, and pick it if you didn't find anything else. Or just pick only 1 trait.

Don't go for small frame, if you fall you hit the ground running. That's where lives usually stop.

I'd say don't go for both FA and doc tagged. Better choose something else. Bleedover still will help you before 24 so you'll be alright.

Yes, you need 675 skill points from 75 to 250 if my math is right. Means you need to take skilled and 10 Int with gifted for 250 skill. You will have 690 skill points.

AS far as PVP goes, I'd would really, really, really, think about the finesse and small frame perks.   Your build looks very similar to my single-player FO2 build, and when I tried doing it in Fonline it works miserably.

Finesse is an incredibly double edged sword as the damage you do is pretty minimal (+ 30 pct DR...ouch) but you get lotsa knockouts and crippling shots and whatnot.   With this type of build you almost NEED to have buddies or you just get mobbed (literally.)

EDIT:  Also I chose both Doc and FA to tag, and it helps quite a bit.  Especially for the fact that you need to have 150% doc skill to use defibs. (no bleedover with perks and item usage)

Number of players doesn't mean that they are all either well equipped or interested in defending our interests :P Most seem to be either looting with crap gear or spamming assignments.

You keep on living in ignorance land where Vtec is getting oppressed by the other factions.  The family sees more Vtec raiders at its gates than any other faction period.  Not to mention every single time i log on half of the map or more is blue.  Not to derail topic, but yeah right.

Oppressed? hardly but that doesn't mean we don't have the same issues with factions camping our gate, its a regular occurrence for a lawyer or BB group to have a crack at our gate considering we have one of the higher player usages.
In terms of Map coverage that's primarily due to Time zones, Vtec has a larger American population so during their peak hours the map turns more blue, once that period is over the map turns back to Grey, or whatever Colour BB is.
