Title: How is scoring done?
Post by: gggrant on September 15, 2014, 01:48:48 PM
Sorry if this is covered somewhere else, but my search-fu really sucks.

I am curious about some of the scoring I see, in the Hall of Fame/Shame and with the ZC messages.

Some of them are fairly obvious like bottle caps or kills., but others seem a bit arcane to me.

I know that the zone control scores cannot be kill counts when you consider that a lot of them are 10 to 20 times the entire server population. Is that score damage dealt?

How does one score "Carebear" in the Hall of Fame. For the life of me I cannot think of a single metric on that one.

"Scientist" is another one. It can't be their skill, is this items disassembled?

Basically, I am curious about most of the scores as they don't appear to have a 1 to 1 relationship to anything I am familiar with.

Would it be possible to get an explanation for the scores?

Well one thing is for certain. It can't be the number of times you successfully begged for mercy. You try that and the only thing someone would do is use a defibrillator on your corpse and kill you again.   :P

  • Wasteland Scientists
    Most items scienced
how exactly does this work ? because it really doesnt seems to be 1 item = 1 point

  • Scavengers
    Most containers scavenged
same question, 1 container = 1 point or .. ?

  • Engineers
    Most items repaired/crafted
what are conditions to get point from crafting to this ? i believe that some players crafted much more then 360 items

Yeah, sorry. It adds item cost/10. So sciencing more expensive stuff gives more score.

Yes. But for technical reasons, some container types can't be counted. It's currently only containers that can be opened, and also lootable sceneries. You also only get score for opening containers if you are the first to do so since it last spawned stuff. So opening and closing the same locker repeatedly will not give any score.

Again, looks like I was in haste. You actually only get points when you repair an item, not when you craft a new one. It's 1 point for each repair.

Other than becoming a turncoat, I can't think of a way to gain reputation with other factions. Maybe I am missing something obvious, though.

By default BBoys hate V-Tec whatever you do, their patrols will be aggressive towards us, so, for an example in order to gain rep with us, you'll need to kill V-Tecs. Don't really know if you can gain so much rep to the point of becoming friendlies with other factions, would be kinda fun.

I think you need to die a lot of times to get this award.
