Title: Balancing factions
Post by: A Phoenix citizen on February 20, 2013, 12:53:50 AM
Hello everyone.

Will there be any mechanic to balance the number of members of each faction (since there is only 2)?

In the Alpha test, no. We hope, perhaps naively, that the numbers will be somewhat uniformly distributed across the different factions and that limiting which faction you may join will not be necessary. If we are proven wrong, we will probably try to consider less intrusive ways of evening the odds between factions, such as scaling the rewards from Zone Control in favour of smaller factions. I'd say that disabling the joining of one faction would only be a last resort. However, it remains to be seen if this becomes an issue in the first place.

That's right two factions can imply a non-balanced conflict with certain issues. More than with 4 or more factions.

We could easily close the door to a faction if we wished to, but we don't like the expression "forcing the player to". We're not sure too if we would like to prevent the conflict from being finished anyway. If a faction destroys another, it's fine. (For now it's technically not possible but at some point it will.) So, if the conflict ends, we'd probably just restart with a new era.

We haven't taken any final decision about that yet. Time and testing sessions will tell :)

If i can say about core side of Family its pretty much worse than Lawyer side, have much less spawn containers.
I think they every faction should have equal chance of scavenging.
One of proposition is boost spawn rate of items there or throw more containers

We'll work on that after the Alpha. That's indeed something to pay attention to.
