Roleplay activities - explanations
« on: August 31, 2014, 04:39:50 PM »

Hello Wastelanders!

This section is dedicated to players wishing to do roleplay or start a roleplay-related activity in the game. While there are currently no mechanics covering those gameplays, that doesn't mean you can't do something on your own already. We plan to introduce some dedicated systems in the future, for example to help you manage bounty contracts, but that's gonna be for later versions of the game.

Meanwhile, if you want to establish your merchant company, or start some activity as mercenary, here is the place to announce it to the community.

We'll closely watch this section and remove the unnecessary flame. Please behave.

I wouldn't mind helping with a merchant company, there will be many difficulties in cross faction trading, and there needs to be go between guy.
I will be a faction to faction trader, if anyone wants to trade with someone else from another faction, I take a small cut.

Nice to see some encouragement for roleplay in Fonline, hopefully server will have more RP-ers compared to other Fonline's.

faction to faction trading can be usefull when there's a neutral faction assuring that no one cheats, for example, if the brahmin boys trade with the V-techers, the lawyer agency or the family can interfere to assure that the deal goes on with no disturbance, for a price of course, just saying

i hope people actually roleplay in ashes of Pheonix unlike the failure that happened in Fonline Reloaded and fonline 2

Don't count too much on it. The people here are the same players, that were on Gayloaded and FO2.
For now I decided not to RP and just check out the game, but maybe I'll start a RP-char and give it a try here later on.

Hmm. I'm tempted to RP but I would like more people to RP with me. Also were F0nline Two and Reloaded bad? This is my first F0nline game... So...

I think what Cpt. Chilly was referring to was how RP kinda devolved into forum-based shittalk-RP. At least that's what happened on FO2 a lot. But it wasn't ALL bad, I had some very nice RP sessions there. Dunno how it was on Reloaded.
Generally RP is not that popular on any FOnline and is mostly done by secluded small groups to avoid the shitload of trolling it gets from many regular players.

This is why RP will never work. Not enough people with imagination playing.

My experience with RP in FOnlines so far is that many people have more imagination than they are willing to admit at first and offensive style of roleplay helps trigger it in those people and can result in a lot of fun. Sometimes.
Then there are of course those days it just won't get going and you can just go OOC and pew pew with them, which is also fun btw ;)

Saying RP will *never* work is too far fetched IMO. It's just a very, very, verry, VURREY tough environment for it. Don't give up.

Actually this server is the most suited for RP, since:
1. Already faction-based.
2. No cliche BOS and\or Enclave, so create your own.
3. Loot\caps are not even remotely hard to get, so even if everything goes south, you don't lose as much as on other servers.
4. Game is still WIP, and will be for a long time I think. Which means that we haven't seen it all yet.

And hey! What the heck, a bunch of Russians dressed in mantles with ak-s shouting "Allakhu Akbaru" wasn't enough for you? ;D. I saw people soil their pants when they saw that shit.

1: This point actually kinda reduces possibilities already and isn't better than BOS/Enclave you mention in 2. At least BoS and Enclave are Fallout lore, which I really miss in this installment, that is just not feeling like playing Fallout, but some other post-apo game. (Not saying it's a bad game, btw.)
3: What has this to do with roleplay?

I sure hope that WAS roleplay. I would not want to play on the same server with any islamist pseudo-revolutionary fascist scumbags.
Assuming it is RP, then it is yet again another example for RP that isn't really Fallout lore. Could have very well happened on DayZ. Or Counterstrike.

For instance, the story, morals and so forth of the Factions, no one really gives a toss about.
I choose BBoys, because after reading their story, my values were pretty much inline with theirs.

When i used to play ultimaOnline:in por ylem 2, i read a post from the main developer called Az, about how some guy was roleplaying a bard, actually singing and performing. Well he got told he was many things, this negative response, almost killed the devs desire to keep improving the server.

Give a thought to the devs work and respect (as in not calling names and other garbage) those that do enjoy RP, devs want RP'ers and dedicated PvP'ers as much as each other.
