I miss having the option to hop in and try to find the ever elusive beast called ZC.  I am very grateful and appreciative of the world you guys (the devs) have taken the time to create. Can't wait for next season.

As many times has been said, "it's realistic" is a bad argument for the game design of current AoP. There are so many unrealistic things, that trying to skip them and add something realistic just for the case of having something realistic is useless.

Cirn0John often use argument "it's fun" for the game design. It has own problems too, first and obv "fun" is subjective. Thus the real argument they mean by that is actually "it'll troll people and I will have fun". Second, something could be fun one-sided and not fun to fight against. Example: red/yellow nukas which were supposed to be "joke items" by design, in real were balance and game mechanics breaking items of dominations. After numerous nerfs, they still might be partially the same, fortunately not used widely.

Still even trollnukas extended the possible tactics/game mechanics arsenal. So after balancing, they will certainly find own deserved place

Now back to HTC malus or any other suggestion to introduce, the questions are:
1) What exactly is going to be archived? (what problem is being solved by that?) How will it make the game better?
2) Is it the best way to achieve that? Are there alternatives? Are there side-effects?

If main idea of the CTH malus is "some real night feeling", than I'd suggest registration by the passport/id and deleting characters after death for "some real life feeling". Same amount of realism and fun.

On other hand, I'd agree with something, which would be positioned as "Being more realistic and thus more intuitive and less frustrating". But I don't see how missing just because night makes the game less frustrating.

In the insurgency I don't think I ever miss because of the night map.

Well for starters, Insurgency has ZERO ballistics. None, nada, nyet. Its pointnclick adventure time counter strike style. Tell me you never miss on a night map in Red Orchestra.

I'm sure you're well aware that taking the realism argument and applying it to char death is a farce. I don't want this game to be supah real military sim, but it does need to make sense. I also think that yes, chance to miss at night would make the game a lot less frustrating, because then you can't have the shit I see during the daytime. 100 percent accurate super soldiers who can completely fucking annihilate everything. Chance, while frusrating to those who spend hours pondering in front of a graphing calculator, is welcomed by the average joe who just had SuperDSRl33tproskillz miss his ass because of night. Same with when SuperDSRl33tproskillz gets shot at by a bunch of close range spammers, and manages to get away because of the chance.

Probability and Random chance make the game more fair than by allowing everyone to create perfect super builds and duke it out from there. The Night Malus is part of that balance, IMO and I would love to see it extend to hit chances. Chance and Probability are foundations of Fallout, the game is drenched in misfortune and screw-ups tied to luck.

tldr; were arguing about something the devs have made their mind up about

PS: why can no one agree that hitting someone in pitch black would be a hard thing to do?

go play dnd if you wanna roll dice to hit

I played fallout originally because I liked rolling dice. If the outcome is always known whats the point? Being an Americunt too, I've shot enough guns to know that no one is going to be accurate 100 percent of the time. Especially not at night. This game isn't striving to be realistic, but it does have suppression and bleed etc. I don't see why 100 percent chance to hit at midnight with your naked eyes at max effective range is reasonable.

no

malus hitchance will never be fun

play morrowind if you dont want to hit stuff

You have to concede, Its abso-fucking-lutely ridiculous to ask for 95 percent (or 100 with laz rifling) to hit all the time ever day. I rather like the idea of a BTH malus, even though it would totally fuck my fast shooter. Haven't had to worry about missing a fucking shot since I was like level 10. The fuck's the point of even having BTH calculations and shit when every single person can hit their shot almost every single time. I like kurwaiers idea, makes it a lot more realistic in terms of night fighting is fucking hard and confusing.

General Discussions / Re: FOV Blocker + Hex Shooting
« on: October 22, 2015, 02:43:51 PM »
What about a feature like hex shooting for singles?

eg: you choose a spot to shoot within range, and then anything in the hexes between you and your targeted area gets hit with no chance to crit. Just an idea off the top of my head, not thought-out at all

edit: just another thought, I spend a lot of time in Red Orchestra and Insurgency shooting through smoke with single shot weapons.

Also, like others have said, why the fuck negate nighttime malus? Seriously, its a debuff due to the natural world and makes combat much more dynamic b/c its not always a perfect situation for people.
"Makes combat more dynamic"

half the time me and other snipers are just saying its total bullshit during PvP
. Now I see nothing wrong with adding a scope to negate this if it will be rare. It will be sort of like a legendary weapon where taking it will be risky.

This right here is why I'm 100 percent okay with it. It gives other weapon types a time to shine, b/c during the day the current meta seems to be teams of snipers hitting diff limbs and causing something like 200+bleed. Even if you make it ultra rare, we have types like Hellmoi who is seemingly always online grinding to get shit. No matter how rare you make it, something that negates snipers nighttime malus would absolutely wreck nightfighting IMO.

Please talk about the suggestion other than unnecessary flaming/shitposting.

You are most definitely calling the Kettle black.  You post a .gif to call someone a faggot, which leaves a bad taste in my mouth personally (You're still an intolerant fuck because you can't seem to stop insulting gay people). You respond to posts like this is 4chan, he's not the only one shitposting.

Alright, I'am currently playing it with 3 mates, or at least trying to since we all know the troubles of getting people online at the same time so we only had 2on1's so far.

Heres a guide showing how to get crysis wars multiplayer to work http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=289520690
Other requirements are Tunngle and a mic

Technically, there is no need for a legit copy of the game *hint*

Even better, thanks for the hint, I'll def try and get this working sometime this week

You must have missed his point entirely.....Unless you only play multiplayer games to humiliate people, make them angry, and stroke your ego (probably a fair part of Fonline tbh).
I have seen an insane amount of socialization on this server compared to pretty much any other fonline ever. I know the people I generally fight with, their attitudes, their weapon choices, and even their stances on random political issues because of the chat we have waiting for ZC haha.

I have to ask what the hell are you doing if you've never seen interaction besides shit-talk?

I have mistaken this for an MMO. Besides weapon discssuions, what has what you have mentioned to do with the game or fallout.
I play this because it has good combat mechanics and I like the FO world setting. Not to talk about the weather or global conflicts.
Waiting for ZC?, sounds fun......

(probably a fair part of Fonline tbh). You nailed it bro.

Ego?, humiliation?, lol im the worst fonline PvP there is, because I dont play to win, just to have fun.
How many of you have listened to what the NPC leaders of the factions talk about in their conference room?
I feel bad for Shang who I think created most of the lore for this.

See ya fellas.

Like Stem was saying, it wasn't my intent to be hostile, text interactions can come off that way.

I would say this is very much an MMO, but much of the socializing happens on Voice comms. After thinking about it a bit, I can say that the vet players wouldn't be bothered by stash spots, but the newbies wandering around faction base need guidance. If my platoon base wasn't in the back of the Law base, I would never have stopped to lend a helping hand to many a newbie I came across.

Weapon discussion is most common, but that intimately ties into the lore of AoP. Seeing as we have M16s and Augs and G3s, its an interesting unvierse Shang has created that diverges from classical fallout into a more fast-paced and gritty setting (at least in my opinion).  I have had many discussions about the lore of fallout, and most of the convos happen on the way to ZC, not waiting. I'ver rarely had to wait the last times I've logged in for ZC.

I love the game, and I play to have fun as well. And I HAVE listened to the ridiculous things the faction leaders say haha.

I really think this is the most fair iteration of Fonline that has ever existed, and thats why I love the fuck out of it.

TLDR

Back to the original point though, newbs need help with the game. Giving players less of a reason to run around base being helpful isn't a good thing IMO.

Please name said interaction that happens in-game? Enlighten me.
Besides trash talking each other.

The only interaction is on this forum, and that is laughable.

Have fun playing with yourselves. :-*

Don't forget to flank once every 5,000 battles, to be unpredictable.  There is more than just ''make line'' strategies.  Flanking will give them a good scare, and make it so they can't go full defense against the front door.  Sometimes you just have to use the back door ;)  no pun intended.

To add something to faop's post: Shotguns, ARs, DMRs, and Grenadier perk is choice for this IMO.

Hi,

Just to let you know that we will be putting together a squad from 5pm UK (6pm Euro) tonight for PvP.

I would be good to see some missing faces, Mr.Strange, Anza, Doon, Agent37, Orshabaal, Ravach, Lunoi, Lalss, Windrunner, GBK etc to come back for an evening.

We will be discussing squad make up/builds and hopefully play to everyone's strengths. Being forced to reroll is not nice so we can hopefully get everyone to play with what they feel comfortable with.

Have a lovely day and see you then.

P.S Bring wine ;)

I didn't see this until now, when Im back from work. Still on?

Mozam builds most definitely exist, and yeah deagle has a short ass range too, whoop dee fuckin doo.
Apparently choosing mozam shotty makes a mozam build  ::) Please do tell the SPECIAL and Tags of a mozam build. 14mm and deagle don't have short range, compared to some other pistols they have a lot.

And These weapons werent used much before the introduction of mozam, and if it gets removed theyre going to be put down again, people aren't going to use them.
People haven't bothered to use them. Look at needler for example, no one has used it for a while then out of no where, one guy uses it, its strong as fuck, next thing you know entire server is using them just begging for it to be nerfed.

Now I don't know why you love mozam so much, its like the only thing you can play. You complain you can't play avenger, burster, rocket, anything else but you can only play with mozam. This perk is just way too noob friendly, especially now since you can just hold click and you'll shoot people. Now combine that with 14mm which deals an average of 60 damage and can critical up to 100, its just stupid.

Laugh all you want, as I'm a self-admitted noob, but here's what I had put together for Mozam/Medic

5 5 5 1 8 10 6

FS + Blind Luck

TAG: SG, FA+DOC

Perks: Actionboy, SHD, Dr. Strangelove, Crit Strength, A Rush, Lifegiver, BROF, Mozam

Worked out damn well with Mozam, and is alrightish spamming with other shit.

Also STALKER, you forget that I played the game before mozam was introduced, and I played BGer/Burster for a good bit, even afterwards. I never said "I cant" I've always said, "Im not the best" at doing other things because its true. You might be super duper dynamic and have no problem changing how you play on a dime but I am not the same way. Its not the only way I play, but I did enjoy it when it applied to assault rifles as well as other weapons.

TBH couldnt care less whether or not mozam goes anymore. I really only cared when it applied to ARs.
