Sharing Leadership Boost Range
« on: September 13, 2014, 04:55:19 AM »

We all love our proxies, because people who doesn't use it can not dual-log for using a dedicated hidden leader.

To make it more fair, a introduction of the Leadership Boost Range would be cool. So FTLs will boost players only in some range which is up for discussion and you. I would suggest not more than 30 hexes.

How does it break anything?

FTL for snipers should be a sniper.
FTL for CCs should be close range (cc/shotgun/smg).
This makes a lot of sense besides making this aspect of the game not exploitable.
And this actually will "create" new builds as currently there's no sense to create a CC FTL in danger of death than you can just snipe and hide.

Opposite me you have no argument at all.

Ashes of Phoenix - Developer Stream - Sep 13th #1 shows a character "Leader" in battle. He doesn't move during the whole battle. is it player? no. it's just a window sharing leader boost, being safe. and it's lame

I see more dual-logged leaders in the ZC, staying still for 15 seconds while I'm shooting (yeah, I'm not DPS build at all), then starting to run away. Have couple of nicknames to report, but one is using his loved proxy (I know him personally), and it won't change the situation in whole.

Also we have reroll now, so it won't break builds.

As I understood range calculations to a leader would cause server performance problems? So I need to get another suggestion?
Cirn0, would like to hear your opinion, please.

You are talking about people making CH 10 leader alts that they dual log in battle?

If so, that is agreeably really lame, though I have never seen it.

Hmmmmmmm.....

What if, stay with me here, but what if the leaders had to "issue commands" (in game terms, they could use their radio for say 25-50 AP) every so often to give out buffs in combat, say every minute or three, to force the leader to be active somewhat.

Or possibly just an inactivity timer, that boots you to WM if you stand still for too long.

Well first of all, every squad-battle character has 10 CH ><, so it doesn't really matter if that is in alt or not.

1. Easily exploited by third-party programs, also if you read his post carefully, that "afk commander" moved, so it won't solve anything.
2. What the heck, that would break so many gameplay mechanics xD. No one will ever exit through the exit grid\sewers. (as this timer will have to be lesser than 10 minutes.) Also that will mean that you can just log-off in Phoenix ^^.

Yeah number 2 would have to be at least 15 minutes i think, which would make it pointless.

But forcing them to at least alt tab or whatever even every 30 seconds to "issue orders", could prove too annoying to bother, maybe, and for people who are actual leaders the annoyance could be removed by reducing the AP cost of issuing orders depending on their leadership skill.

TLAMk2 - Maximum I could handle is 3 alts at a time, with a single monitor. (efficiently) I've heard of people who used several monitors and\or a mobile device to increase that number up to ~6.

Hmm, well it would be nice to find a solution. One character per player would be nice, as long as the ability to reroll exists, there's no legitimate reason for alts.
