Particle Accelerator is the only gun that can do one shot one kill on 300+ hp character in the right circumstance. (target gets knockbacked into a wall)

In my opinion, such gun shouldn't exist because it doesn't promote teamplay.
As a user, you are rewarded with a kill but you didn't need the help of your team at all, no target focus, no target calling, just one shot one kill.
As a target, you get killed but there is no team counterplay around it, teammates couldn't heal you, couldn't smoke you, just one shot one kill.
Extremely selfish gameplay.

Don't get me wrong without the one shot one kill mechanic, I still think Particle Accelerator is a worse version of DSR and AS50 because long charge time, long reload, slow easy-to-dodge bullet, knockback giving out shooter position, very specific gun sound.

Usually, I don't like to propose changes before hearing other opinions but this one is easy so here we go :

Reduce overall damage
or
Add a fail-safe mechanic to prevent one shot one kill
or
Rework it completely
or
The user also get killed (pls no)

Disable sneaking with weapons that have 70 range or higher (Bozar, DSR/AS50, Particle, Some SG snipers) since most particle users are sneaking from 80+ hexes. It's annoying when some sneaker shoots you from far and can easily get away

Well that could work but would only result in sneakers using SG snipers like AX338, DKS-501, Mosin Nagant (http://i.imgur.com/hluRxDo.jpg), and H&K MSG90 which are PvP viable atm.

fix 1: dont stand next to walls, dont get oneshot

fix 2: if sneak wasnt utterly fucked there would be needler + waki sneaks around that could hunt particle

Particle actually requires a lot of teamplay to use effectively, because you have to get really, really, really lucky to actually get into a position to land a one shot kill in open space. This requires the target to be targetted at long range, since hexfiring results in weak torsohit.

The deal here is that you need to bypass the -100 ded hp too in order to see the crit anim to prevent revives. If you only knocked the enemy to minus or killed him with the knockback damage, which doesnt result in critdeath, he will simply be revived.

Anyway, the following requirements have to be met for particle to actually do something:
1: Aimed shot resulting in strong critical hit to cause critdeath
- have to aim at target with extra aimtime hoping target doesnt move too much
- Have to pass hitchance if fast shot or no laser rifling
- Have to pass critical chance check
- Have to roll a high enough crit power to do enough dmg
- Have to roll good enough base dmg

If it's impossible to meet all of those requirements at once, you need to substitute for it in backup, aka teammates to finish the job. If you dont have any support and are just a lone player, as any particle user would be apparently, then any non-crit death kid of hit will result in the target being FA'd/epi'd and your location being swarmed before you have time to fire a second shot.

Now, if the team that's being attacked fails to react when being repeatedly fired upon by a particle, then joke's on them. There was this one battle with fam vs tecs yesterday I believe in gun runners where tecs had a sneak coming from the northern garage, taking shots at family and killing tenova + hitting more. Fam could have sent 2 guys to quickly kill the guy, but they didnt and it continued.

On a side note, walking dead trait makes you virtually immune to instakeks

Particle is just way too common as a tier 3 to be doing that. I can understand it doing that much damage if it were rare as a gauss rifle or alien blaster but people just have too many particles. It's just like, "Oh, I died with a particle, oh well" but if it were a bozar "FUCKEN AAY, SHIT TEAM, FUCK YOU ALL" rq. Hell, today I was running around and found 2 particles laying on the floor, then I killed niamak yesterday and today for 2 particles, then me and courier have this  (http://i.imgur.com/495qSRB.jpg) and another container just filled with crappy condition particles. It was even a late implementation to the game and theres a huge abundance of them.

I can't imagine how many other players have, like Letys, hellmoi, matthew, etc.

Adding some charging sound would be nice, currently its just "PEW" and you're like what, then 1 second or less later you're hit for 300.

cirn and me looked at charging sounds but it's not as simple to implement, unless we used the exact same charge time for each gun and had no distinction ebtween aim and torso or something. IT certainly would be nice though if just hearing the sound of it charging up allowed you to run around to not get hit.

Fuck you guys, that video looks awesome.

The only problem is long range weapons with sneak. This will be a problem with every weapon with 50+ hex range. It is not exclusive to the Particle Accelerator.

As far as damage. Its a tier 3 weapon. Sure you have it now, but when the server resets and there is a sustainable concurrent player base, it won't be such commonplace.

no, the only problem is the new shitty sneak system that encourages stationary play

sneak malus for running instead of wearing big guns (fuck you) ruined builds that hunted T3 users with needler and melee weapons

Let's face the truth, particle is just a t3 spear

It's interesting how AoP came to the state of being overwhelmed by overpowered top-loot, when it decides the result of the combat much sooner than skill, other gear setup/combination and tactics. I hoped this day will never come, but today I don't feel like joining the fight, because I don't grind for t3 and I don't have it, when enemies do and already made it legendary on top of it.

A tier 3 weapon that's as common as one of those hobos running around looting. Of course when wipe happens it'll be top loot since a lot of more weapons will be implemented, but atm, its just too strong for a common weapon.

It's like getting 1 hex'd from 80 hexes away

Particle Accelerator is trash without the one shot one kill mechanic (knockback damage).
Doing 200-300 crit is not that much considering the required setup.

I was gifted a particle accelerator once, and I thought it was rare as all hell.
I popped into platoon to put it away with all the other nice things, and Piggy already had 10 of them stashed in a box.

Being instamurked by anything shouldn't be a thing imo, regardless of the amount of set up that is required. especially when 9/10 times we cant even see the shooter.
Someone is always going to be able to make that set up happen correctly. Or find a sweet spot and abuse it.

Saying that its up to your team to revive/FA the victim fast enough is one thing. But who has the bigger chance of making that person stay dead? The team that is ready for him to be shot by particle and follow up with nades or snipers? Or the defending team that didn't expect their friend to fall in one hit?

I havnt seen particle fail yet.
I suppose it is rarely used in comparison with other gear but I only expect its popularity to rise with the death toll.

You try explaining to someone "no buddy, dont stand next to that wall in this city full of walls. John.P.Particle will F u up from across the map"

+1 to the idea of charging sound effect.
