I noticed team work is imperative for survival and its useless to work on your own, however this happens to be my favourites server atm. So imlike to know what class works the best on their own, I'm assuming stealth crippler or sniper?

Side question: are any interface mods available?

This is pretty much a team based FOnline server. You can't really go lone wolf unless you're a sneaker or a hardcore melee camper.

Nope, well, none that I know of. I'm pretty sure if someone made one, he'd post it.

If you're talking about 1vs1, it's pretty much any standard char: melee / max dmg / max crits.

if you're talking about 1vsV-tecSwarm then obviously sneaker: to kill fast enough to hide and evade others. Then probably waki or DSR, well known to be effective

I'm joining when the server is back up with my brother, how easy are the blueprints for the piston spear to obtain and how do you get smoke grenades? Also are smoke grenades to be used on yourself?

Lastly what effect does strength have on throwing and can a lawyer wear a v technologists cmbt armor as I like the colour but prefer lawyers... These are just preferential questions.

I think sneak is prolly the best solo class, I still remember Ramon playing terror movie baddie with around five family dudes in our gate.

Eventually we killed the invisible beast.

All of this and more will become clear after a few hours of playtime, but just to clarify...

You unlock crafting "blueprints" by donating "relics" to your faction (relics can be found in the core and come in a few different forms) Not to worry everything you want to craft will come pretty easily.

Smoke grenades can be obtained at a faction vendor, they are mainly used for cover, blocking the enemys line of sight. They can be thrown into doorways, or out in the street in order to make a safer advance.

About strength and throwing, I am not 100% clear and probably shouldn't comment but the information you need is most likely on the wiki (As goes for a lot of things)

In preparation, you may like to check these "HQ faction guides". Some useful bits of information, written by some helpful players. It may clear up some other questions you have.
Or you could have a look through some old threads. Just type in a couple of keywords, someone may have already asked the same questions.

AoP also has a YouTube channel. Some cool development videos, they're not exactly in depth documentaries but they are narrated and it gives a nice overview if you are new to the server.
A tiny bit of the information may be inaccurate since updates but they are still worth a watch

When you do finally load up the game and decide your characters fate...
Take it easy for a bit and have a good look around your faction, maybe go on a couple of assignments and get a feel for the mechanics. And be sure to pick up the quest for "Awareness"
before venturing into the core. (No sense killing critters that won't count to the score you need)

If you do go into the core, it pays to take the begining slow imo, get to know the streets.
I found myself lost a few times.

Most of all enjoy yourself.

See you on the field!

If I were to use a smoke grenade on myself would it mean they'd be unable to target/hit/see me for a few short seconds?

I dont know about "using a grenade on yourself" but you could throw it close enough to consume you in a cloud of smoke, yes.

If you're behind/in a smoke cloud you cannot be targeted/seen, however an enemy could spray the area with a mini gun or assault rifle for example which still has the potential of hitting you.

I'm not sure on the exact duration of a smoke cloud however.

That depends on which smoke are you using (actual grenade or a shell for GLauncher) and on your throwing skill. AFAIK 12-15s is max possible.

Well. Yeah, I don't think those kills count until after accepting the quest though.

Thats why I said its best to pick up the quest before going into the core :D

If I use a smoke grenade on myself and have 10 perception will I still be able to see outside of the AoE and target enemies and while I throw the smoke grenade on myself they can't target me at all right

You can't see through 2 hexes of smoke in any case.

It gives an idea: what if the ability to see through smoke will actually depend on perception.
Currently perception isn't that important anyway.
