Mines mission
« on: September 21, 2014, 02:42:24 PM »

I think that the mission protecting NPCs need to be expanded a little.
While fending of rat waves when you are low level and have a noob team might be fun later it gets boring or useless when you level even a little.

Now maybe adding some more difficult mission like fending of aliens (wanamingos) or Deathclaws will make it more interesting and fun. Of course the pay need to change according I think, or maybe even give different scripts for more advanced ammo that most high levels use.
Because I remember having fun defending NPCs and it's kinda sad for this feature to be left unused.

+1 to fending off waves of deathclaws haha.

Add giant scorpions, fire geckos, ants and centaurs to that list too :D

Sample dialogue:
"Welcome stranger, got a selection of good things here. What're you buying? Oh, soz, this stuff is for extreme-type folks, move along."
"How do I get it?"
"Nah, you will basically have to defend a couple of miners digging for simple junk and iron FROM AN ENTIRE HIVE OF DEATHCLAWS. We will pay you in those mining chips no1 else is using.. Sounds awesome, eh?"

Gold? hahahahahahahaha.
I'm sorry, but are we talking about FALLOUT UNIVERSE HERE? NOT OURS? U SURE?
What would they mine? Minerals? Titanite slabs to get your black knight halberd to +10?

Idea is awesome, I didn't shit-talk on it, don't get me wrong. It just seems funny to me, on the logical side.
I'm +1 -ing this anyway.

There's gold nuggets in the game, and we use alloys at least.

Gold isn't used as a global currency therefore it's useless. Alloys are the same T1 resource level as metal parts and junk.
That's what I'm confused about: rats - metal parts\junk, deathclaws (which can exceed 800 hp and 7 ms) - alloys, same tier.
Once again, I'm up for this idea, it just needs some love of thought ;).

I hadn't actually tried to sell it yet, so i really didn't know its worth in game lol, but it is a valid point.

Let's go with something of value then, like clearing an underground water source of a radscorpion infestation, or protecting a brahmin farm froma hungry deathclaw pack :D

That makes much more sense, see? :)
Now to wrap it up with a nice story and create a chant of "PLZ ADD DEVS KTHXBYE".
BTW: It'd be fun if by finishing those quests you'd refresh merchants with crafting-ingredients.
T1 (ore) T2 (rare parts found in the city, could be guarded by muties\centaurs\floaters, will actually be in some old-forgotten remote (unique location) building) and T3 (Abandoned BOS\Enclave facilities which became inhabited by Deathclaws, with a Melciore boss at the end ;D.
But those are all just dreams, it'd be super hard to implement, since there is no need to do it even.

Sounds kinda awesome! Since you protected the miners, you can, well uhm, buy what they mined :D but why not

Yeah the mining mission is kind of meh.  past level 3 it is useless xp wise, and you might as well do core missions to earn money to buy things =/
it would be neat if you could fight off more difficult things as you said, maybe even raiders, and mutants XD.
And actually get paid a decent amount of scripts.
