Aha!

I left the server URL at the default value, and only changed the port number.

I have changed the url and it is functioning now. Thanks again paragon for your time and patience.

Thanks for that very detailed reply, paragon. Hopefully, it will help other visually impaired users going forward!

I don't think the problem is with my username, I originally tried 'palgolak' so the use of non-ascii symbols was never a potential problem.

I followed your insctructions, and still receive the 'cannot connect to server' message.  I suspect it would be better to switch back to port 4000, and pursue other work arounds from there.

At least at port 4000 I was able to connect to the  server before being rejected!

Doug

Thanks for the reply Myakot. When I change the port as you suggested, I "cannot connect to server". I changed the port back, and received the old messages again.

Do you have any other suggestions? It is win7-64.

Thanks for your help!

In attempting to register a character, I am repeatedly rebuffed with cryptic messages "Incorrect name. Probably too long or too short", or "Name must consist of letters by 70% at least. "

I have tried many combinations of letters and numbers, none seem to be accepted. Also, the error messages do not seem to apply to the changes I made. Is there a protocol for what names are acceptable, and might I know it?

Also, perhaps I am clicking on the wrong button after changing my name. The icons are very small and I am old.

Please help!
