Title: Server Service Interruption and Happy Holidays!

New Server Status: Frosted Igloo Server

Our current service provider for our game server OVH is no longer supporting windows operating system which means they will be unable to run the AoP FOnline server. Unfortunately, I have been slacking off on that department and have not come up with a suitable provider use so the server may go down for a extended period of time. So the estimated time of service interruption may be 0 to 1 month, for that I want to apologize to the few players still playing the game! A big issue currently is that I live in North America. While I can setup a server local to me, it is not so great for most of our player based in Europe and I have no idea which companies there are in Europe or Russia. Perhaps I should of seriously asked for help earlier!

To dispel any rumors of AoP being dead, well personally, I have no intention of quitting, we've been working with a small staff since launch and we've done a reasonable amount of work with what we had. The holidays have really kept me away from AoP which is apparent by the lack of weekly updates we've been doing since the launch. Furthermore, we've been working on multiple larger features which I've briefly spoken about in random parts of the forum. I'll go into detail about them in the dev corner when it is rolled out.

Finally, I want to thank everyone that gives a damn about what we've done and are doing! You guys are awesome and clearly have great taste :^).

Wish you all happy holidays, let's make 2015 a good year!

Oh, no wipe planned, hopefully I did a proper job of saving all the server data.

It would allow to spread the word for this new "event", and have more than 15 players when it reopens.

And before that, we might have some kind of pre-wipe frenzyness.

Players leaving the server (especially to other servers) are not always coming back.

What are the specs of your old provider?
How much bandwidth per month are we using?

Instead of not being able to play your current character forever, you are not able to play your current characters for a while, that could last quite long.

In any ways, it is time for a last round of PVP/PVE/RP/Anything frenzy.

HEY! there are a few latinoamerican players too! And we love the game like the most!

About the server down: I hope you can come back stronger and better than before. I enjoyed those months a lot, congratulations for this joy. I will be waiting for the return! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I still don't understand why you don't use a virtualization solution ? Is it because it will be taken care of by your provider, for a price of course ?

Good reason could be significant changes (character building, economics, extending of the world, changes in existing locations). Without a good reason wipe doesn't bring people to play but also makes some others leave. E.g. I am not gonna spend 20+ hours for basic farming for 10 mins of pvp per day.

My sympathy for the lone V-TEC. Two agains't six was already hard.
I can't imagine how it would have been with one agains't six.

At no point we were 6, ever. Also even when I want our guys to hold back after the alliance with tecs and Vultures I'm your friend sledge to the head, it's kinda hard, I try not to join that kind of fights and leave our new guys to get experience with pvp

Also I alone killed the vtec guy before main force could killsteal me.
At least you guys still fight even when outnumbered, like Family, unlike vtecs, and that's why I will always respect you.

I got my first kill solo in leather I with a laser rifle. That es all i will wear to pvp cause that is all i loot from my enemies. we got komrade and his buddy last night though. he had on the good stuff.

On a side note: I was going to make a sizable donation that would probably pay for a set of jumper plugs and a new BIOS battery but the 'donate' button on the front page doesn't really lead anywhere :(

Yeah, that's because our responsible Rynn left the dev team recently. We'll have to set up some other way to gather donations, but I guess our last active team members have other things to do at this time ;)

I don't remember dealing any bleed before, let alone 80.

Am I being blind again? Am I supposed to deal bleed XD I honestly cannot remember.

I now have npcs bleeding out on me before I can get the last shot in. :D

Also I've come across a few NPCs that can't be looted (Searched)

This is only 1 picture, but I caused that much bleed to every NPC I fired at so far

P.S Woooo We're back in action!

I'm being told everything is fine, I still don't remember dealing bleed.

When enemies try to figure out why they can't attack each other effectively ;D After trying for a bit, none of us were even close to dead. We couldn't kill each other, it would have taken forever
My damage output was more or less useless, same goes for Richard.

Stalemate, round reset indeed.

The latter is in anticipation of movement speed changes while the former is a change in anticipation of a changed bleed and healing mechanic. It's all just plans but as I said, we are going to try to test more things on a smaller scale to see how that feels in general rather than channelling all efforts into a single mechanic that then gets barely tested.

My ping is around 200 all the time so no big deal, at least it isn't going into thousands randomly.

so this cut deagle dmg almost in half(cuz new ammo lacks dr malus) but bleed dmg as i understand is 80 percent of dmg done ? so in the end it is rude nerf

on the other hand one of SW ammos have somthin called composide dmg 75 normal to 100 bleed i gues this 75 percent is new way to describe old ratio ??? if dat is the case most ammos have no normal dmg modifier assuming this means 1/1 or 100 percent only they bleed modifier is stated

so new system is good for snipers and exeptional for burtsers but all ammo now needs carefull rebalance and dt/dr issues makes real dmg picture very obscure

ps am from eastern europe and ping is fine no change at all for now

Not THAT ridiculous.
- There wasn't any instant-kill beside melee sneak. I can't support any new one. One good thing about AOP are fight through attrition, not just one-click-death. It was one of the things that set AOP apart from other servers.
- It makes the light-step trait useless. Half a million is still enough for insta-death and the mines are harder to see.
- Mines were already dangerous before, if there was anything fighting you at the same time. You might increase the damage, but not to the point of insta-death.

It was a mistake on (I believe those were lawyers, but I might be mistaken) enemy part. They were running from us through a hole in the fence which we trapped beforehand, somebody got knockeddown and blocked that 1-hex entrance, which resulted in a tiny slaughter (4 of 5 players).

player planted mines did also bleed , they worked exactly like scripted ones if your skill is high enough ...

also cirn0 we need some more rerolls when u introduce these new lvl24 perks ... thx

Tweak mine damage so that its always instagib unless youre wearing armor that has 50%+ explode resist or have lightstep perk

Is it just me or the reroll command doesn't work these days ?
(i only used it 2-3 times last year. Including the one that suffered rollback)
