Is there a problem with weapons stacking, or is it a feature? Guns and the high tier "electronic" melee are understandable, but items like plant spikes or knives or crowbars leave a heck of a mess when they don't stack. And when throwing stackable(spears) items, one has to re-equip it to throw another, I hope it's not intended as it severely cripples melee and throwing builds, especially with weapons like the thrust or dynamite spear when stacking in hand is nothing short of essential.

Throwing builds are not supposed to be viable if all you're trying to do is throwing spears. Instead, the spears should complement general HtH users, sneaks, and basically anyone else who is smart enough to use the wide variety of unique spears to get more out of his primary weapon.

Currently the stacking is a bit messy but there area a couple of problems wiht stacking in general. Items that have an ammo counter cannot be stackable as that could be exploited for unlimited ammo and having stackale melee weapons also makes you immune to weapon drops. While the latter could probably be addressed with some scripting work, the ammo thing is something that can't be avoided.

I can guarantee that spears will not be used in any sort of PvP by a melee build.
Spears are awesome, but as they stand with the stacking, they are not viable for anything above molerats. And even then, maybe.
Also got to point out, that throwing spears (javelins, pilum, etc etc) have always been a valuable battlefield tool in history.

even in their current state, spears have the highest alpha strike at around 20hex. with 2-3 people teaming up, you cna kill pretty muhc anything in a hit and run action. even wiht the 50ap for requipping the spear, I can certainly imagine 3 melee coming around the corner, throwing one spear each to kill a target to then switch to melee and regain AP while charging.

That's the thing really i think. if we make spears stackable and let you throw them in chain, then that means we'll have to highly diminish their damage, and they would just basically feel as classical fire weapons, except you have to grab them every time you use them. If any throwing weapon was meant to be used that way, I think that would be throwing knives.

Yep, that much was understood. Was also thinking that any weapon with deterioration, which is basically every weapon that uses ammo, would not be a fun thing to stack. Would either be as efficient as a random gun pile on the floor, or would create 100 separate stacks per weapon, which would defy the whole point

Fair enough, thanks for clearing that up. Looks like I will have to change my strategy, maybe use them for one cripple or heavy damage shot on an unsuspecting enemy
