'Battle Buggy'-Chapter One:
« on: March 24, 2015, 01:45:08 PM »

Marijuana. Long decried as the Devil's Weed, it was a  blessing in disguise. In 2283, The Institute of the Commonwealth perfected marijuana -based oil, plastic, rubber, and gasoline production.  When Lyons' Brotherhood of Steel downloaded it from a Commonwealth server; and Elder Lyons ordered that this knowledge be  shared freely with all, save the Enclave and Caesar's Legion. Vehicles again prowled the wastes.ftp://

Simultaneously, the New California Republic released 100,000 ho
rses into the Mojave. At the same time, The Folsom Act was passed. If you were a  cowboy, veterinarian, blacksmith, ranch hand, or saddle worker; and you were exempt from the draft, too.
The NCR also instituted  radio shows that showed how to  care  for and control  horses, too.

It was the Legion's death warrant, too. People used their new found  mobility  to raid Caesar's Legion, too.  Legate Lanius died  when  a Fatman exploded in his face,  Caesar was dragged from his tent along  with Aurelius of Phoenix and shot. Afterwards, their bodies were burned with plasma pistol fire to ashes. The Legion is now solely nothing more than a handful of soldier loyal to Vulpes Inculta, and they are holed up in the Legion safe house near Nipton.  They just exist barely as scavengers moreso than traders.

But even  as new life enters the Wasteland, war;  but war remains... The husband and wife rode in their, the hot dust filled the semi-desert air.  The wife  and her young both held lever action carbines, as the  father worked the reins. A standard size schnauzer dog snored in the back of the wagon. Suddenly, Tuffy spring awake and began barking. "What is it, Tuffy?" Roger Woods stopped the wagon.  Cowboy Repeaters were cocked and readied.  Suddenly, 'Yi-Yi-Yi!' A spear thudded into the side of the wagon.  Randy Woods shot first,  a tribal fell dead!  Suddenly, mob rushed towards the  wagon  of  the Woods  family. "Rifleworshippers!" snarled Debra Woods  as  she emptied her cowboy into them.  The Rifleworshippers were a dreaded tribe of Arizona, they foot raced and used swords, shields, and spears in their battles. They were always raiding for guns and energy weapons, too.  Randy emptied his carbine while his Mom reloaded. Hank Woods drew a Ruger GP-100. He was saving it as the last defense for when the rifle ammunition was gone.
Suddenly, "Out, Out!" were the filled the air. At least twenty dead or wounded Rifleworshippers littered the road  way around their wagon.

A  Rifleworshipper grabbed for the reins.  BANG! His  face exploded as  a  158 grain JHP round slew him. Four more of  the same fell chest shot. Suddenly, swords were pressed to bodies  and  the Woods Family were disarmed.  The leader spoke. "I am Winged Death Dealer. You will know sorrow this day."  Debra turned  pale.  The Rifleworshippers sold men into slavery but raped women and girls to death. Babies and  toddlers were simply left to die, and wagons and animals abandoned, too. The Woods Family were man-handled from their vehicle, Tuffy hid under a blanket, whimpering.  Randy and Hank were tied up facing Debra.

Debra was  forced  to the ground. 'Lord Jesus, please kill me now!' she silently prayed as a leering face descended  to  meet her....   The face flopped lifelessly, The steady banging of an All Soviet rifle occured. The All Soviet's red dot meant that every round took a Rifleworshipper's life.  PEW-PEW-PEW!  Multiple Rifleworshippers were slain, else they were reduced to green goo puddles by the RAD SMG's plasma bolts. A hand yanked  Debra  up. "I'll take you to safety" He hustled her into a nearby culvert.    Her savior was a  little boy, the same age as her son, Randy. From a tactical vest, he produced an automatic pistol. "Can  you handle a gun?!" "Yes." "9mm SIG SAUER P226, twenty round  flush box mag capacity."  He explained.  "Just  aim  and squeeze if  bad guy rushes you. I'll try to save your friends."

A mob of Rifleworshippers counterattacked.  The rattle of a Neo-Grease Gun and a Galil both ended that threat. Winged Death Dealer fled along with the remnants of his band.  An giant of man of strode towards Hank and Rogers.  Their eyes widened he slung the All-Soviet rifle over his shoulder.  "Hold out your hands and I  will  free you." The friendly blue eyes of the giant cal
med them.   He produced a battle sword and expertly cut them free.  The battle sword was a   24 inch-long  bladed gladius with a steel knuckle handle.  "Nuke is my name."

Nuke was 6 foot, 11 inches  tall. He was clean shaven, white, and wore a military flat top  crew cut. Desert combat boots shod his  feet. Tiger stripe desert  BDU pants clad his legs and midsection, A tactical vest covered his muscular chest. This same tactical vest held grenades and  ammo-laden magazines, too. It also held a laser-sighted SIG SAUER P220 .45 acp. On his left hip was holstered a .50 caliber Desert Eagle. It was customized with fiber optic sights.  Atop his head was perched a German camouflage desert snap brim 'Aussie' boonie hat.
