Being able to see opened lockers/doors before in view range...
« on: September 19, 2014, 03:10:15 PM »

One thing that keeps bothering me a lot, but also keeps helping a lot is that you see open doors/lockers etc. before they are in your view range.
Usually I go the core badly equipped or not equipped at all. I go to a zone, lets say Warmart and see the front door is open. So I know there has been a player recently, urging me to be cautious. Since doors/lockers keep being open for some time, player may have left already. Or not. So I enter the building, hide behind smth and watch the other doors/lockers. Now if any opens I know there is a guy and Id usually better leave. If not, all is cool and there is noone and Im free to loot. Now while looting, if other doors open inside the building, I know someone is coming and I better get the hell out.

Im not sure this is meant this way, or its just not possible to work around this. Anyway, it makes noticing other people fairly easy without ever actually seing them. There would be a way bigger suspense of running into someone, if this was not the case and you couldnt see a door/locker being open before you actually saw it in view range. Id probably die a lot more often, but on the other hand, it would be way more exciting.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. But then again you would hear the sound if something metal was opening/closing (just like you hear with doors) so it makes sense to have some warning.

I wish had source codes to the FOnline engine, but this feature is reasonably out of my hands.

I don't know if its even possible, how much work it'd require etc etc... but what about changing doors and lockers(or at least doors) from objects to NPCs?

About 12 ~ 14 hours, so about 2 weeks.

Then another patch to fix mistakes made in patch, +1 week :D

But changing them to NPC would mean they are invisible by default, then appear when you see them? would be odd

That could also make them breakable!
