Crafting recipes?
« on: February 27, 2014, 12:57:06 AM »

I have to admit that I am LOVING this system of crafting, and all these new additional weapons. Feels like there is finally a balance between weaponry. Spears and melee are becoming very versatile, with ranged melee weapons and explosive spears and energy spears and ballistic fists and...yeah :P energy weapons look like there are no longer two forms(very weak or very powerful); I see a lot of in-between weapons that I enjoy using. Small guns have a huge variety of different forms and ammunition types...scoped assault and battle rifles, more use for every ammo type(9mm is actually useful neyond level 1 now, whaddya know...). I have little experience with big guns other than hard to make, but deadly powerful; deserving of the term big gun, in other words. And the crafting system no longer depends on alts with high repair/science skill, but on individual gifts of rare items that will prevent alting rather than encourage it. The suspense of what you could unlock next the first time you play really gets you searching high and low for those items. To sum it up, i love the crafting and weapon balance in this game...what do you guys think?

The crafting system is pretty good. The armors will eventually need recipes, I assume, and I know for a fact that there are more armors planned to be obtainable. It'd be cool if you could trade in CA (over 65%) for your faction's color of CA or something. I really want to be part of a multi-faction battle where we're repping our faction.

Personally I'm not convinced with the approach of the tech tree as it is, especially for T2 weapons. I understand the concept though, that you go from a more mainstream weapon to a more particular one, but it doesn't look like a real improvement compared to the required effort imo. Perhaps rewarding the player with a weapon of the learned type as well could help? Or maybe that's too much...

However, this tech tree will work well with armors and other items indeed. For your information, the strongest armor on AoP is the Advanced Power Armor, but it's not gonna be craftable at all, nor obtainable any easy way. I don't even think it's implemented yet, but it should exist at some point and be offered to players as reward for certain actions. After that one, there are the Hardened Power Armor and Power Armor, which should be craftable under extremely difficult conditions. We plan them to be used by players despite that rarity. After that, there are all the other armors, including Factions Combat armors, which exist in Mark I and Mark II.

I'm happy with current crafting requirements, though some balancing will be needed here and there, especially concerning components availability.

How does one currently go about obtaining those?

That would explain why those rich guys don't stroll around with uniquely colored armors. Well, thanks for all the help so far, you guys have been fast and efficient in answering to all my questions and problems.
