State of Factions and ZC Payouts

A small part of the plan to make Factions & Reputation more meaningful.

We're giving each faction stats, for starters each faction will have a wealth attribute associated with them.

For each zone held, it will generate a caravan that spawns from that zone and will travel to reach the faction gate. Upon reaching the faction gate, that faction will gain wealth. The spawn rate will be adjusted based on players online and possibly more often during the weekends.

We'll remove caps from vendors so its no longer about who camps the vendors. You will be paid in dividend of your faction's wealth that is modified by your reputation/fame/average ZCscore.

This faction wealth state for the first phase of things will just simply determine player payout but in future will be extended for other features such as buying faction wide facilities or upgrades.

Of course this should be a lot more meaningful when the economy is fixed.

Sounds like a great way to disperse caps. Will these caravans be ambush-able by other factions?

Also the economy fixes sound interesting can we get more info on that?

Only the strongest faction will benefit from this imo. Nobody but law and vtec can even hold a zone for more than a few minutes. I haven't witnessed Brahmin Boys even attempt a zc for the last week or so.

The core is and has been grey with a few blue squares dotted around for the past week if not longer. I know someone may say that its good motivation to take part in more zc but I simply don't think it wouldn't work that way. Imo.


This is the current average state of phoenix, and the only players willing to zc today. There are sometimes more but its usually the same players.

Love it, was suggesting caravan thing long ago, warms my heart to see it going ways.

@Stem oh yeah? Will Lawyers be able to defend EVERY SINGLE caravan from the zones they have? :) Look at how many there are from your own screenshot, it'd be bad if something would happen to them... unless there are no rewards for "robbing caravans".
If there are, than this idea is superb and a must-have.

Of course! Nothing which is written only on paper will make some1 go "yeah, I'm 100% sure this'll work!". It just looks promising, besides, I'm trying to look at the big picture. Don't forget that it's the "small chunk of a giant slab of an update".

Yes, ZC rewards are not right. You spend not only your best equipment but tons of timmme. Probably you should get some base amount just for being there (as long as enemy actually came) and then get caps based on your score added to that.

But another issue is non-ZC pvp. You get no faction reward for doing PvP in core, I think you should. Maybe bonus stipend from your faction based on how much core pvp you do.

There were times in FOnline that players did tones of pvp just for the sake of having fun and killing others. Now they need bigger and bigger carrot to even get of caves, sad...

Yes but in this game you can't craft ammo or (until later) armor so you need caps to continue pvp, and you rarely find caps in core. If you do ZC you can get enough to keep yourself equipped but otherwise you run out eventually. Then you get forced to do assignments for caps and xp if you run out of equipment or need levels which is a problem I think. Assignments should take place in the core, I think it's a mistake to have them as instanced locations because it keeps people out of the core

I'm up for assignments in the core - e.g. Kill 3 mutants in Hospital Zone, or Deliver briefcase to Gun Runners merchant.

This sounds great, but something like this would require faction rebalancing. Maybe once the end game of "destroy enemy faction" is possible, this will live to its full potential.

I hope with that option comes the potential to "create new faction".

Or we'll all be lawyers before the end of the patch day (or maybe vtech).
