Traps and lockpicking as the same skill?
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:49:33 PM »

It doesn't make sense to me, I hate to complain about things i haven't personally experienced, But it seems to me , Most people will have lockpicking already, And That just gives them defense against traps automatically...

Meaning "Trapper" type combat style is thwarted by a lockpicker...

It's like... Why call the bombsquad in when everyone can disarm the bomb?

I was looking forward for teamates counting on me to trap the enemy, and disarm/scout the enemy traps... Seems like everyone can do this on their own now though.

Again, I'm just complaining about something i've never experienced.

lockpicking is not even implemented so there's no point complaining about it at this point

I too often feel useless as a trapper.

Sure I can see traps from quite the distance but people don't listen and walk into them anyway(There are still players that haven't figured out some npc bodies are surrounded by traps.) Or like you said can just disarm/navigate for themselves.

As a trapper my skills have been utilized effectively a grand total of 4 times.
The traps were very helpful in those situations, but I feel conditions have got to be a certain way before using your traps and expecting to snag something.

I love the idea of trapping but also feel under used, maybe I'm doing it wrong.
If we could reroll tags I'd just become medic as it obviously has more opportunity to be useful.

I never even thought about lockpicking in this game though. The only locks I see are in faction bases on merchant containers.

Lockpick could be added as a PvE skill. So no need to lockpicker alts and useful to get extra loot on assignments, quest and core.
Traps sure need some additions, like be able to trap doors, and detonable traps (this will be useful good to split enemies formations, catch fleeing groups, or make an entire room a deadly trap)
