Nice battle at GE. The sight range penalty kicked in pretty unexpectedly.

Suggestions / Re: Equal numbers PvP
« on: July 31, 2015, 09:03:42 AM »
*To those unfamiliar with the term: tier advantage is when tecs take t3 to zc and law doesn't.

There are plenty of workarounds for that. For instance FO Requiem has (or had?) an arena with a set of lobby rooms implemented. This ensures equality between teams: the round starts only if the numbers are even, everyone gets in the lobby naked (no pun intended) and each team receives a locker full of stuff in quantities proportional to the number of teammates. So weapons, ammo and medical items are of the same tier for both teams, and the latter two are quite limited. Of course, no spoils of victory besides money rewards can be kept, as everyone is back in the lobby at the round's end.

This system worked well aside from some nasty abuses and griefing -- rounds were won by OP builds, not OP equipment. Given that Requiem perk and stat system was all over the place permanently, it opened up lots of interesting possibilities.

Basically quite a sane idea , it just has not a single thing to do with AoP and its content. Pretty sure that TvT in Phoenix won't ever reach its previous peak in the new session, and this kind of suggestion only helps ppl split even further apart.

Since the beginning, all kinds of out-of-town activity on AoP have been hurting its primary gameplay component -- messing around in a set of locations accessible by everyone with anything in mind. Arena matchmaking is a convenient way... to turn more ppl from the actual game.

Danger, AoP RANT below!
Spoiler for Hiden:
I'd say that assignments have eventually turned out to be the same kind of distraction as well -- prior to free rerolls a decent percentage of the playerbase was spending hours in the wild, doing non-stop PvE to grind levels and moneys -- INSTEAD of populating the city, subtracting from the active PvP life on the server. This kind of free, undisturbed progressing sorta kills half of the fun acquired playing on AoP.

If only we had had all that stuff inside The Core -- child-level assignments sending you to do things near your gate location, harder ones to cause rumble in neutral area, the hardest ones making you rustle the enemy's jimmies. That would be mean and add lots of purpose to the current ZC mechanics.

Events & Politics / Re: Attention Lawyers

My pause from the game lasted 2 months. I came back to game to see that the clan of APK players i was in wanted to move to Vtec faction. I have went to scout. After checking all 3 other factions i realized that the Family had much better players, while Vtecs had Knights of the Wastelands. I believe i have no need to tell you readers what's the gameplay skill of KotW. It was to say at the very least not good enough. My extensive intelligence report was ignored and thus the clan and I moved to Vtecs. I had to constantly tell them on mumble how bad they were and they did not follow all of the commands. People should learn to absolutely obey the orders, but it was not the case, as they lost the ability of humans - learning.
Oh boy. An entertaining piece of fiction indeed. The only little, ehm, mistakes I've found in your claims are:
1) You never had anything to do with V-Tec core folk in the described period.
2) You never had anything to do with KotW folks, not back then, not later, not ever.
3) You never had anything to do with commands, orders or whatever you're talking about. Don't make a laughing stock outta yourself claiming something so easily counterable by the others.

Other than that, the piece's composed well and with a touch of humor. Happy writing!

The Lobby / Re: Snipers people don't take to PvP

This is not totally true. Some weapons may be counter to other weapons, some might be good against certain armors, some might be average good on every situations while others very good on few situations. With small scale pvp, let's say you have 6v6, you don't have the luxury to use all weapons, especially when you can use T3.
This doesn't account to SG sniper rifles: read above. This doesn't account to SG sidearms: you won't take a p226 or deagle over 14mm pistol, they're incomparable in DPS output and effects. This doesn't account to ARs, LMGs and alike: BAR just overDPSes everything else.

Whatever small the playerbase may be, this aspect is really crucial. It's not so hard for a new player to see that 90% of ingame weapons are garbage and barely usable in pvp. Just because a certain list of weapons is overly better than all the others. Of all the luxurous variety of weapons we have here, the viable choices aren't more numerous than on any other FO server.

Make separate chars for 3 active factions, lvl them up and switch between them whenever ppl happen to be online and ready for action.
From what I've seen already, at least half of active players have characters in 2-3 factions and don't hesitate to jump back and forth depending on faction numbers. The only thing that differs is their motivation: while some switch sides when they see their faction is much more numerous than the opposing one, others switch to join the swarm creating the popular "11 vs 4" situation.

Funny to see ppl switching between lawyers and family right at the moment when these 2 teams are contesting a zone :D

>Play vintage DnD games

Well, it's good if you like old games by bioware and you've played BG, BG2 and Icewind Dale 1 before and enjoyed them. Otherwise you can just play something more up-to-date like NWN1-2 and dragon age. You'll get the same idea but won't be repelled by archaic graphics, interface and so on.

All vintage DnD games have lots in common, but I'd underline some of the most important features:
- brilliant hand-painted 2D backgrounds and spell SFX
- mostly great dialogue everywhere, even more important if you're a fan of DnD universes and lore
- NPC followers interaction and romance options are 10/10. You won't find anything like BG2 in modern products. On the other hand, you cannot be gay or fuck horses, which might be a drawback for some people here.

Почти 2 месяца довольно активного пвп. Не каждый сервер фолача удостаивался такой чести за последнюю тройку лет.
