The Ak47, and 7.62x39
« on: September 11, 2014, 03:00:32 AM »

Now, I'm not knocking on the damage of the AK-47, it does rather well for what it is.  The only thing I find funny is that it does less than 5.45 rifles, even less than some pistols.
While it should never be as powerful as 5.45 at range, 7.62x39 shot from an AK47 has the marked tendency to tumble in flight, reducing the stopping power at range, but in close quarters its devastating. AK47s should do more to unarmored targets at close range then they do, by a fair bit, while reducing power at range.   What do you all think about the Kalishnakov?

You have to keep in mind that the AK was implemented as a Tier 1 weapon, even though it's closer to a Tier 1,5 if not even a 1,8 so to speak.

It's Kalshnikov ;), and I agree with you, it seems rather upsetting that such a powerfull weapon is considered one of the worst ones, and is weaker than some smgs at close quarters.
