General Discussions / Missing Item Icons

So a good chunk of the new stuff is invisible to me in the inventory / ctrl + g screen. Is everyone experiencing this or have I done something wrong? I've run updater and it says its fine.

Suggestions / The .223 pistol
« on: August 02, 2015, 09:04:06 PM »
Today, confident I could make the .223 work in ZC, I made the mistake of thinking exactly that. I went to the core, ready to pop some caps in unsuspecting enemies, when me and a friend found some. They managed to overrun us in a 2v2 because it may have well been 1v2 with me using the pistol. I was doing anywhere from 18-30 dmg with torso shots, and not much more with the mozam headshots. Add this to the fact that it takes insanely long to reload doing it single shot ( in combat, reloading in firefights is what Im talking about), extremely high AP cost per shot, it seems to me a particularly useless weapon atm.  The biggest problem with it is the shell loading and the damage. .223 is supposed to be armor piercing, yet I was doing near nothing to armored opponents.  My suggestion is to make the .223 magazine fed and decrease the AP needed to shoot it slightly; or give it a slight damage boost to make up for its crap ease of use.

I could be using this gun wrong, as I am a spammer, but it has crit strike on it. Crit strike is exclusively a spam perk. It also has a lot of super-duper critical perks, which is weird considering it's supposed to be a spam weapon. ATM there isn't a reason to use any pistol but the Needler or 14mm ( maybe the .50 deagle), I would very much like there to be.

Am I just a noob? Or is there actually something wrong with this weapon?

Technical Center / Hoarder Perk and Changing factions
« on: March 18, 2015, 07:21:45 PM »
If I was going to switch factions, and I happened to have the hoarder perk, would it be a viable option to hamster literally everything in my base and drop in in a law base when the name gets cleared? I've made a trip to the core with ridiculous amounts of weight, wondering if it works for faction switching.

Suggestions / Barbed and Snake Spears
« on: February 21, 2015, 01:18:03 AM »
I think barbed spears/snake spears are lacking in usefulness a little bit. Anyone with halfway decent armor defeats them, and the bleed ( on barbed) isn't enough to make up for it. Snake spears are supposed to be the choice for unarmored targets, but they're damn near useless. Barbed spears excel in the role snake spears are supposed to be covering. I think barbed spears need  a bit of a change to be effective. Anyone else have some thoughts about this?

If this could be added whenever, I'd be grateful.

Purchases / The Core Trading Post
« on: February 15, 2015, 01:00:25 AM »
Hello! Some of you may have noticed or even have fought with some of the factionless players in the core, but were not all hostile. There are a great many items we cannot afford to get due to our situation, so I'll be compiling a list of items we are currently in need of. Anything we need we can trade for, or in some situations, pay you a small amount of caps. On top of our own needs, we're also available to run packages/items between factions for a price. Thank you for anyone who aids us in acquiring what we need, were extremely grateful.

Any equipment we buy has to be "Better" quality or above due to the harsh conditions of the core.

At the moment, the most important items that we cannot get hold of ( or have trouble with) are:

Defibs (Manual and Auto)

30.06 ammunition

14mm Ammunition

Hand-to-hand weapons in good condition, all kinds

Small guns of any kind (preferably assault rifles or pistols) in good condition

Super Stimpacks

Armor of any kind in good condition ( we can get these, it's just a rare occurrence to find anything substantial)

And finally, probably the most important item on this entire list:

If we get radios, any faction will be able to contact us over them.

Most of what we have for trade is items, caps are scarce where we are. If you would like to meet with the trading post, send a message to me or leave a post here.  Thanks again, and happy trails!

Suggestions / The M1941 Johnson Rifle
« on: February 12, 2015, 01:59:57 AM »
The Johnson rifle was a revolver-fed semi-automatic rifle chambered in 30.06. It was designed in WW2 but not fielded (barring early pacific engagements) due to components being easy to lose and the tendency to misfire/jam because of the rotary cylinder.

I would love to see this baby in game, its a rifle fitted with a 10-shot revolving cylinder that shoots the same round as a Garand.

I envision it being a halfway point between DMRs and Snipers, with perks and traits along these lines:

Traits: Dijibooti Shooty & Unreliable

Perks: Knockback, Bonus Damage, Knockout Strike , Bonus Rate of Fire, and Better Knockouts; in that order.

Damage (Single): 50-65
60% chance to cause bleed
Bleed Damage: 40

AP cost for:

Single - 45

Reload - 30

If needed I can mess around in GIMP and see if I can fudge up an placeholder image.

The Lobby / Shotguns and The Shotgun Perk are broken
« on: February 03, 2015, 02:51:02 AM »
I took the Shotty Surgeon perk, and tried out some buckshot on NPCs. This is what i got.

Basically no damage, and definitely no criticals.

with 250 SG skill as well.

The Lobby / Change car loot spawns
« on: February 01, 2015, 04:26:43 PM »
So, at 2 am in the morning, during the least populated part of the session, every single goddamn car has still been scavenged. It's like there are bots running amok scavenging every single car as soon as it cools down. Either that or the loot spawn timer is borked. Cars need to be fixed as they are a source of Oil.

Suggestions / Single Shell Loading and Your Magazine
« on: January 26, 2015, 07:13:49 PM »
This is really more of a question than a suggestion, because I don't know too much about the engine.

Is it possible to see custom configured magazines sometime in the future?

E.G.  I choose which shells to load into my shotgun or Grenade launcher.  You could have any combo of rounds put together as long as you took the time to do it beforehand.

For Assault Rifle, Pistols, SMGs and other Mag-Fed weapons, what about adding a magazine item to the game? Not necessary to use your weapon but if you put them in your inventory and fill them up before combat you could have custom-loaded magazines for your own purposes.  (Obviously this would exclude BGs)

I would imagine it would work something like this for SGs and GLs:

When you drop an ammo type onto the GL or SG, a dialog box opens asking:

  • Fill
  • Partial

You could have the "Fill" option hotkeyable so as to not interfere with how the game functions currently.

If you click partial, it opens up a transfer window like the ones for putting items from your inventory to a container or vice versa. The number you select is the amount of shells or nades loaded into the gun.

Doing this with a magazine would function similarly, and the magazines would get used in the order they are arranged (top to bottom).

a) Is it possible?

b) Any thoughts about this? Does anyone not want to see this?

Wiki creation / Lets get it started
« on: January 21, 2015, 06:26:07 PM »
So It's been a long time, with many many changes. The wiki is almost irrelevant in terms of up-to-date info.   I'm going to be starting the changing of info over to the newer changelogs.  Anyone who wants to help post in here.

Suggestions / Trophies from fallen enemies
« on: January 18, 2015, 06:41:34 PM »
If anyone played Diablo 2 on battlenet back in the day, something you treasured dearly was your collection of ears taken from dead players (At least I did). I would love something like this to be implemented in AoP. Say, you kill an enemy, and I can see 3 options:

a) A finger/Ear/other small extremity drops into the players inventory after he dies, and only the player who killed him can see it. Make it have no weight and make them sellable at a faction NPC.

b) Same thing happens with the extremity, but any player that did damage to the dead person can pick it up off the body.

c) Same thing happens with the extremity, but any player can pick it up. I don't really like this as it means you get trophies you didn't earn; but someone may have a perspective I do not.

Make them worth a rather small sum ( I dunno, 50-100 caps or something stupid, maybe less) and bingo you have some more motivation to get out there and feed your blood thirst again.

One last thing to Clarify: I don't care very much if they're worth caps, it would just be nice. I want the trophy.

What does everyone think?

General Discussions / ZC isn't the only PVP people
« on: October 15, 2014, 10:40:53 PM »
I know I'm not the only one who has noticed this, but there seems to be a lack of players in the core unless ZC is going on. Even when I see 50-70 players online, the way the core looks it might as well be 30. PVE is becoming a problem IMO, as Vtecs and Lawyers are not a regular sight in the core. It seems to me that everyone is afraid to go out and lose gear, and they just sit doing high rep missions until they can buy gear for ZC. This makes the game incredibly boring. I don't usually see the lawyer/vtec ZC regulars in the core (and I haven't really seen much vs BB ZC), unless they're in LARGE numbers. Something needs to be done to encourage more players to venture into the core. Small squads PVP in the core is the most fun this game has IMO, and it shouldn't die because of fucking carebears.

Suggestions / Big Energy Weapons
« on: September 22, 2014, 11:14:55 PM »
Recently I wanted to make another EW build, as my first failed miserably, and then I realized my options were kind of limited.  for anything other than torsospam or sniping, it seemed like the Gatling laser was my only option for BG-type Energy Weapons.  What I propose is the possible addition of things like plasma throwers, electricity weapons ( e.g. a giant electric arc throwing welder powered by an industrial capacitor or something)
and others. There is a lot of really cool possibilities, and I would be willing to do art for the implementation.

Purchases / Buying Holodisks
« on: September 21, 2014, 12:06:18 AM »
I am in need of several holodisks, and am willing to trade items or caps for them.   If anyone has some laying around they don't need, leave a post here, as well as what your price for them is.  Thanks for your consideration.

General Discussions / Blueprint costs
« on: September 13, 2014, 04:08:46 AM »
I am unable to provide a screenshot, sorry, my laptop doesn't have a print screen function.
Its a simple error is text, it says that it costs 2 blueprints to unlock a new machinegun and 1 to unlock a heavy weapon.  The reverse is true.  Heavy weapons cost 2 and machineguns cost one.   I hope it doesn't change as it make more sense to me, hope it was just an error in code/text.

Suggestions / The Ak47, and 7.62x39
« on: September 11, 2014, 03:00:32 AM »
Now, I'm not knocking on the damage of the AK-47, it does rather well for what it is.  The only thing I find funny is that it does less than 5.45 rifles, even less than some pistols.
While it should never be as powerful as 5.45 at range, 7.62x39 shot from an AK47 has the marked tendency to tumble in flight, reducing the stopping power at range, but in close quarters its devastating. AK47s should do more to unarmored targets at close range then they do, by a fair bit, while reducing power at range.   What do you all think about the Kalishnakov?

General Discussions / Ashes of Phoenix Chracter Calculator?
« on: September 05, 2014, 12:11:53 PM »
Has anyone heard or seen anything about one of these?  Is a character planner being developed by anyone?  (or are groups just gong to make formulas and hoard build stats to themselves?)

Edit:  Also, if anyone could clear this up for me,  What does

Skill bonuses: SG (1/6), BG (3/6), EW (1/6), Unarmed (3/6), Melee (1/6), Throwing (2/6)

translate to in English?  I dont understand the format.  Is it every point in that attribute adds X amount to said skill?
