Title: Hi, New Here
Post by: LagMaster on February 25, 2015, 01:04:59 PM
Behold, The Monk of The Lag came to visit the remains of Phoenix, Arizona. What dangers should i expect? Who will be my ally? Who will be my enemy? Who will help me make a build of **MY** specifications? Only time will tell.
But, until then, I greet you! May The Lag be with you and The Forgotten Path shine at you!

Welcome to Ashes of Phoenix!
I hope you enjoy yourself here.
If you're wondering which one to choose, I can't help you wih that. Choose one that you feel you want to be in, that's what I did.
Hopefully you'll be at home here, and you will fit right in, be you a Brahmin Boy, a Family member or even factionless.

Best of luck!
Now, pass the spliff.

Got in a frienly scuad and game looks promising
i heard there are free rerols whith no gear and i would like to make one
the only problem i find is that hoarding is more annoing than just taaking what you need
unfortunaly, got used to fonline2 cc speed bonus and i feel kinda slow. But i like the way you shoot. how ever i would like some build recomandations for my reroll

This is what i recommend for EW. take no traits ( not a big deal if you do ) ~reroll 6 1 6 8 10 1 8 is a great place to start for EW. you dont need perception because we use the leadership module for sight range. this is good for voodoo and squad power.

also consider ~reroll 6 1 6 5 10 6 6 for more AGI and less CHA/LUC. This would be good if you get FA to 200 I think. this is good for the minigun and psycho.

take toughness crit perception lifegiver

do not take BetterRateOfFire if you plan to use the minigun. it does not affect the minigun ap cost
in this case take faster reload instead
silent hill death is nice
adrenaline rush for more tank
faith healer if you tag FA
quick recovery if you don't tag FA

dont forget at lvl 24 you need 250 EW. 200 secondary (FA, throwing, sneak, traps in most cases). 150 tertiary.

If your CHA is 8 you can viably tag leadership to 200. We have enough leaders though I think so only do this if you want to.

almost always best to take doctor as tertiary because 150 doctor allows the use of instant defibrillator

You do know that perception below 5 gives a penalty on a weapon's effective range right? For max range consider PE 3 with sharpshooter.

Also, If you put your ammo in your 2nd hand when using Avenger you won't have to reload.

In a low AG build that depends on Crit Agility leader bonus you can take small frame for an additional Special point (just reroll with AG 0 if you take it). You won't really notice the extra knockdowns since they're rolled against your critical agility.

Can't we close vtec recruitment for a month or so!??

Probably do some backwards unique slowflake attempt to make factions balanced before conceding to locking factions.

Unfortunately EvE Online doesn't have anything related to this issue I can draw from.

I do think throwing new players into a faction selection isn't the greatest thing, especially since this choice being a prime factor towards your experience.

I think perhaps it is best for players to start off as factionless, allow for tents to be setup in the wasteland World Map. These tents will remain hidden until a outpost is built nearby in which then the tent becomes visible to that faction.

Of course experienced factions and gangs can still quickly join up but this is mainly geared towards new / smaller groups of players who cannot field a competitive on their own. I hypothesis this might create a slower and more fluid server progression; one in which faction expansion, aggression and politics will play a more intimate role to the big picture. As the faction balance changes the players themselves can decide which one to join.

As for anti-swarm mechanics, what I really am (poorly) gambling on is that we get economy right such that over populated factions cannot afford to arm everyone. I would really want to run an item wipe just to test the theory but with player base so small I doubt it will be an effective test.

Hmm. I'm a little concerned that doing an item wipe might end up putting those factions that have a surplus of equipment but a lack of players at a severe disadvantage.
Then the larger factions would have an easier start.

yea testing that on us would be pointless and mean. I think the idea is right on though and with 100 players online next season it will help to counter the swarm a bit.

This needs to fucken happen, open your eyes devs!!! even shangalar said somewhere if a faction becomes over populated, they'll stop it from accepting new members

Well, as Ive pointed out on irc already, EVE actually does offer a solution to this. And its all player driven.
Ideology/values, power, amount of promised support and training are usually stated by each corp there.

Now as to why teks are so popular, one of the reason might be the promise of technologies, being misleading to players, not to mention player barerly gets any introduction at all (custom faction descriptions, eh, eeeh?) to factions and what they are actually represent.
Well, theres also twat being helpful to newcomers.. but anyhow!

As much as I'm hardcore factionless and glad to hear that this option ain't going anywhere (And would love to have somekind of container to manage my items, like say, BACKPACK, instead of making my stashes on ground with half broken ctrl+g), I'm kind of worried to hear about WM.
And here's why.
I mean, you guys have the whole core with things going on in there, why would you now bring effort into carrying gameplay from core to wm? Doesn't make much sense.
If core was bigger (and I heard it will be), all this can be in the city.
The outposts on faction controlled zones.
The assigments being in the city too, say, in neutral buffer zones (not possible to zc) with ruins similar to lawyers gate/junk heap maps.
Discoverable npc stashes, I wount't go into detail Lidae knows more at this point, probably.
Now as for tents... I'm personally not sure if giving a "room" to factionless is a good idea, however, I don't expect others to play like me! Instead of tent, replace it with some "sewer room", which can be found when outpost is founded and uh.. route map to the hideout is found? And to reach it, you go down to sewers and use one of N "entrance" doors, something similar to faction rooms.

Anyhow, my maint point, you guys have core, build on it!
This is more of wishful thinking rather than a decent suggestion, but perhaps it'll still be of some use.

ps This really is not a place for this post but w/e

Or just make the other factions more apealing
most internet ppl have the fuck the police atitude, so jjjla is a no go
also why should i join a faction where any misstake can get me lose a pinky?
also who the hell wants to be a farmer in the wasteland. I want to be an adventurer
i joined vtek solely cuz i hated the others. Also having a safe place to stay in, like v7 and having smart people near that can work with teck is preety handy

Imo best course is tO make factions not so black and white

Lawyers had the biggest playerbase in the beginning. Should have seen their swarms at the time.

To be fair, BBS and TTTLA or whatever other older FOnline faction that went up there made up 80% of the players.

Nice to see you around Lagmaster. It reminds me the dear old WWP.

About the lawyer, it isn't much the police, but the Wasteland kind of self-appointed law enforcers full of dogma, codex and other certainty that make them a bit more layered. If you talk to the npc, see floating text, do assignement, you will see that some of their laws might not be benefical to the whole Wasteland. It is not black & white, which is (theorically) great for RP. The problem is that not many players are into RP and there not much features to support it in the core.

PS: Lawyers had the second biggest playerbase at the beginning, but we weren't much behind the V-TEC. They had 10-15 more players, but we were 30-50 so it didn't mattered much for us. On the other hand, it was pretty harsh for BBoys/Family. Ultimately, many lawyers joined the family for balance sake.
