Your post there is golden butthurt material.
Shows a long and hard ptsd that the game gave you and can offer to everyone who joins.
So free butthurt and long lasting ptsd, what else can you ask from the game ;)

Quality butthurt. You trying to make players join or get rid of them? Lmao why am I quoting, I'm on his ignore list, just like 80% of the players xD
We are saying the same thing Matt.
Shame he's a hardcore roleplayer and wants to be a fat Texan next session :-\

the rpg crowd comes in, expects story, lore, quests and immersion. Then I airdrop 30 exploding brahmins on them.
what we need is the open pvp crowd, the moba crowd, even part of the simulation crowd. AoP has much more in common with games like HotS, dayz, battlefield and world of tanks than it has with your run of the mill mmorpg. I personally am not a huge fan of roleplaying because I don't do it myself so I couldnt properly create a game that does something I don't have experience with.
The biggest concern people had who checked out aop since 2014 was the lack of quests, coupled with the fact that we dont artificially stretch your playtime with XP grind like mmorpg's usually do. In a sense the aop that certainly cirn and me want to see would be more like tactical open pvp game which has some char building and economy strapped onto it and is not just a pure grind (WoT, WoW) or strictly no grind (moba).
I think we'd have more success in getting new AoP fans if we advertised in games like arma, planetside, mobas and even RTS games, rather than Fallout 3+ and mmorpgs in general, just because we're technically a "fallout mmorpg"

I agree, trying to sell it as an MMORPG is a mistake. I, personally, would label it as a PvP driven ARPG. The server, nor content could provide enough to be labeled as truly "massive."

:'( :'( T-take it back! :'( :'(
It is true, though. When I describe AoP to people, I don't call it an MMO, I call it a squad based tactical action RPG, where each squad member is a player.
It's really hard to find any games for me to compare it to.
-
Why not call it a butthurt simulator ? I bet a lot of new players will come here :)
It is what it is for the best butthurt currently available.

Focusing on PVP would feel like an empty egg.
While not necessary put 1000 quest for each zones, the server would be 1000 more awesome if we were given more reasons for care about the zones, the city, the npc factions, given a bigger flavour in these areas, various activities, and reasons to explore, stay in the city. Not just because you need 50 more scavenging scrap for building your gun, but because there is enough fun and immersion in the city.
No matter how good is pvp, (and it is currently almost perfect already) i don't think you can hold the server for long with just people idling between two ZC timers. Beside that, it wouldn't be a terrible waste of the mapping you made.

A while back they said something about roaming merchants in the core, and maybe even some quests that you can do in the core. But sadly I don't think this happened :(
-
At least, we have funbox.
-
i alwes suggested SENDING SCIENTIST CARAVAN (or any other) to CORE to collect specimen of DUNO SOMETHING, and if it survives back your faction gets bump in CAPS or TECH or something. OFC you have to guard it and other factions will attack it to get CAPS and prevent you from progressing
+Good thing with this it eazy brakes camping and makes fight progress from map to map. CARAVAN is uncontrollable, NEWER STOPS until its CAPTURED/DESTROYED
ONLY TIME IT STOPS IS TO COLLECT SPECIMENT FOR A 1min EXAMPLE

I am no devellopper, so i can't guess how much time it took to implement that, but this is was of the most awesome features that were recently put on the server.
It isn't overpowered or mandatory, but still rewarding, it is random, it encourage you to roam the city, encourage you to go in zones that you wouldn't otherwise, and it is quite simple mecanic. The mini-boss thing is quite imperfect but the concept nice too. The weather thing is nice too. I would rather love much more things like that, than more PVP changelogs. It give more life into the city without creating new quests. (quest would be nice too, but i assume the task takes even longer to implement)
